About This Blog

This is where I post my original works - stories, poems, proses, essays, etcetera. I own everything that's written here. If you want to post my works somewhere, please give credit to me.

Original stories are stories whose characters came from my mind. I own the character for those posts that have this tag.

Fan fic are my stories which stars my favorite Asian stars/anime characters/drama characters. I only own the stories, but not the characters (I do wish I own Calvin Chen and the rest of Fahrenheit... lol)

Roses are my short proses/stories. it may be written in first person's view or thrid person's view. It's just a narrative prose.

One-shots are my series of stories that are one chapter long. These are also tag as roses.

Actually, I was planning to make 25 short stories before my 25th birthday (which have already passed) and unfortunately, I wasn't too successful in making 25 short stories. I was panning to call it 25 roses, hence the tag roses here in my blog.

Anyways, if you want to read just one story, click on the title below and then start reading from below.

Happy Reading!

P.S.

I'm trying to figure out how I could highlight the entries here and copy, but I am not that knowledgaeble with HTML. So, while I'm trying to figure things out, if anyone wanted a soft copy of the stories here for reading purposes only, you can shoot me an email at tamed_soul@hotmail.com

Red Eye

Red Eyes

It was midnight.

The wind blew violently. The branches of a tree nearby was swaying with the strong wind, making a knocking sound by the window. With those said, Aaron covered himself with a blanket, trying his best not to be scared.

It was the night before the Halloween, and here he is, lying on his bed, scaring the hell out of himself because of those scary thoughts. Stupid Chun for making him watch those gory movies the night before. Stupid Calvin for making him watch those horror flicks that afternoon. Stupid Jiro and Danson for telling him those scary ghosts stories before he went to bed. And stupid him for being such a scaredy cat.
He could hear footsteps by the hall. He chose to ignore it, knowing that it might be Chessie, their assistant. Chessie had this habit of going out of her room at midnight to check on them. But then, he realized that Chessie is out on vacation.

“Shit!” he thought. It couldn’t be Chun, he thought. Chun flew back to Brunei that afternoon. Danson and Jiro were partying again at a bar somewhere. Calvin had a date with Hebe, whom he finally convinced to go out with him. He closed his eyes tightly, and forced himself to sleep so that he could ignore the footsteps. But then, the footsteps became louder. The wind became much stronger. And the branch from the tree is knocking down his window. “Damn it! Don’t scare me, whichever supernatural being you are!” he thought.

He sat up on his bed, and looked at his door. He could see the knob being turned, as if someone is opening it. “Damn you, ghost! I should have gone home tonight instead of being home alone in this apartment!” he thought. The door slowly creaked open. “No… don’t hurt me! Take everything you want, just don’t hurt me!” he said in a scared voice. The door finally opened. A girl whose face is covered with her long hair, came in. She is clad in white dress. Then, she walked up to him. “No… don’t take me… I’m a good boy…” he said as if he was crying. But the girl did not heed his plea. He certainly heard about the ghost in this house. Jiro told him about the girl whom he sees roaming the house at this time (he had a third eye). “No… don’t… please…” Aaron pleaded again. Still, no reply from the girl.

The girl came up to her really close. He moved back from his bed, till he fell from it. He crawled back, till there was nowhere else to hide. “No!” He shouted, shielding himself from her. The girl moved her face close to her, and he saw how red her eyes are. “Sadako, no! I still have six days left since I watched your video!” Aaron shouted. He closed his eyes, and made a cross position of his arms.
“Aaron?” a scary voice said. “No! Please!” he cried. “Aaron…” she said in yet another scary voice. “Take all that you want, just don’t kill me!” Aaron said. “Aaron… can I borrow your eye drop?” she asked. Aaron got confused. He opened his eyes, and saw Chessie laughing at him.

Christmas Card

My hands trembled as I wrote the last word on the card. I put my pen down, and looked at it closely. “With love, from me” it says. But, I wonder if he would still remember who is this “me” that the card says?”

I folded the card, and put it inside a white envelope. Then, I placed it inside the box, together with the 10 more Christmas cards and a thousand letters I have never dared to send. I never sent it to him, because I never had the guts to let him know what's written on it. I'm scared to let him know the feelings I had for him for the past 10 years. I'm scared simply because letting him know how I feel is a big risk, and I risk breaking my own heart if he ever finds out. I never dared to send him those cards, because I never knew where I would send it to.

I stood up from my seat, and looked outside the window. The snow is starting to fall. I could see the Christmas lights lighting up the streets. I could hear the sweet voice of the carolers as they sang about the birth of Christ. I closed my eyes, and suddenly, I remember him. Christmas always makes me think about him, because it was Christmas when I first met him.

I remember a tall young man who stood before the crowd. He was handsome, and ever dashing in his black tuxedo. I remember the warm smile that filled up the whole place, as if lighting even the darkest corner of the ballroom. I remember staring at him. I remember, when I first looked at him, it seemed as if the world stopped, and it was just him and me. I remember the time he walked up to me, and asked me to dance. I could still remember how my heart was beating fast as he held my hand, and waltzed me all throughout the night. And I remember the kiss we shared under the snow that night, with a promise that he will come back to me when the time is right.

Each Christmas, I look forward to seeing him again, but then he never came back. The only solace I found was to write him these cards, hoping one day, he would be able to read it, and he would be able to understand how I feel. But then, I never had the courage to give him the cards. And so, my feelings for him will remain in silent, with only the box as the witness for each tears I cried for the past 10 years because of him.

Suddenly, I felt a tear roll down my cheek as I relive the past. I guess it could not be helped. I miss him... and missing him opens up the wound in my heart that I thought have already healed. But I guess that wound will never be healed as long I never got the closure I've always wanted. I've been holding on to his promise for a long time, and somehow, it felt like I'm holding on to a sharp edge of a knife by doing so. It is hurting me a lot, but I have to believe that one day, he will come back for me. I still believe that on Christmas, he will meet me and dance with me again. With every snow that falls, I am wishing that he would tell me that he loves me too, that he' also wants to be with me forever. I'm starting to lose hope, but I know I shouldn't.

All I know is that as long as I'm alive, as long as there is Christmas, I will continue to wait for him... even if it takes forever...

Voice

If darkness scares you most, then what about silence?

--

His voice is slowly fading.

As minutes passes by, silence is slowly taking over me, and it was scaring me so. I wanted him to keep on talking. I want to keep on listening to him as he speaks. I wanted his every words etched deeply into my memory. I want to memorize how his angelic voice is like. I want to hear his sweet voice calling my name. I want to hear him say those three words. I want to hear him say that everything's going to be all right. Most of all, I want to remember how was it like to hear him speak

I wanted to stay strong. I wanted to be brave in front of him. I wanted him to see that I'm OK, that I'm going to be OK. But as I see his lips move, and the fact that I couldn't hear him anymore... it was breaking my heart. It was hurting me more. I looked at him, but he could see through my eyes the tears I was trying to hide. I see his lips move again, and this time, there's nothing I can hear.

It was silence.
Blank silence.

I shook my head. I wanted to say sorry that I could not hear anymore. I wanted to say sorry that I couldn't respond to what he is saying. I wanted to say sorry that I couldn't understand him anymore. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out. All I can do is sob. I couldn't even hear my own muffled sob at all. I looked up at him, and I could see his sad eyes looking at him. There was a tear forming at the corner of his eye. I reached up for him, and embraced him. I wanted to feel his comfort. I wanted to feel his warm touch.

Silence have taken over me, and there's nothing I can do about it now.

I will never be able to hear him call my name...
I will never be able to hear him sin our song...
I will never be able to hear him say how much he loves me...
I will never be able to hear word of comfort and encouragement...
I will never be able to hear his laughter and his cries again...

I will never be able to hear his voice ever again...

For his voice have already faded
And nothing fills me now than this cold silence...

Songs And Stories - By Heart

Note: Actually, this is my birthday gift to a good friend who loves Arron Yan. Since I already let her read this story first, I'm going to post it here. Anyways... Daphne, Happy Birthday!

--

She looked outside the glass window, admiring the night view from below her hotel room. She folded her arms, as she leaned on the glass. It was been two years since that fateful day, and she could still remember. She wished she could have forgotten all about it, but she couldn't. She closed her eyes and let a tear fall as she reminisced what happened that day. It was the day her heart was broken. She could still feel that familiar pain, and it was like killing her slowly, suffocating her.

She gave her heart to one man whom she thought would love her forever. She gave half of her life to a man whom she thought would give her the love she needed. She thought he was worthy of all the sacrifices she was making, but she was wrong. In the end, he chose a different direction. He chose to ruin everything. He chose to break her heart. He chose to leave her all alone. Arron broke her heart. Moving on would have been simple for her, if only she have not seen a glimpse of his boyish face. Suddenly, at the sight of him, all the walls she have built around her crumbled in an instant, making her even more vulnerable to heartache. Suddenly, her heart was in confusion. She hated him for breaking her heart. She hated him for ruining her life. But at the same time, she realized that she still love him, that she couldn't live without him.

She wanted so much to let go, but something was holding her back. It was her heart.

--

He looked outside the glass window of his condo unit. He looked up, and saw the stars shining brightly, complimenting that bright lights of the city. He hugged himself as he let out a sigh. It sure is cold tonight. And he felt even more colder, now that she's out of his life. “Daphne...” he thought. He could still remember her smiling face. He could still remember her small arms around him. He could still hear her boisterous laughter as he tickles her. He missed her, that's for sure... but it's too late for the two of them.

He ruined everything for them. He knew for a fact that when they started their relationship, he was already ruining Daphne's life, but she chose to stick up with him. Her family was against him, but she chose him over her own family. They lived together like husband and wife. They were happy. Their life was perfect together. Although money was always an issue for them, it was something that they have dealt with together. It was breaking his heart to see her working so hard for him, as he continued with his studies. Finally, she gave up on her own education in order to support him. Daphne have sacrificed everything for them to be together, but somehow her sacrifice is not worth it. In the end, he chose to leave her, so that she could have a better life.

He closed his eyes, and let a tear roll down his cheek. He knows Daphne is happy wherever she is. He knows he made the right decision when he pushed her back to her family. He wanted so much to give everything to her, but he doesn't have the power to do so. “I'm sorry, Daphne...” he whispered. “I'm sorry for what I've done in the past... it's the only choice I got... I'm sorry for leaving you that way...”

--

Ten Years Ago...

“See you later!” His classmate told him as they got out of the classroom. He walked through the lobby, and then he paused to look at his watch. It's already 4 PM. He still have enough time to prepare his surprise for Daphne. If he could get home before Daphne could get off from work, then it would be perfect.

“Arron!” he heard someone call him. He looked back, and saw Chun coming up to him. “Hey, man.” he said. “Dude, do you want to go out with the guys tonight?” Chun asked. Arron smiled and shook his head. “I can't, Chun. It's our anniversary tonight. I'm planning a surprise for Daphne.” he said. “Oh, I forgot. Today is the big day, isn't it? Do you think Daphne will say yes to you?” Chun asked him. “I hope so. I'll be graduating soon... I really hope she would agree to marry me this time.” he said. Chun nudged him, and then put his arm around him. “Aiyo! You don't have to worry about a thing. I know Daphne loves you very much, she will say yes to you. Hey, don't forget to invite me on your wedding, OK?” he said. Arron smiled, and nodded his head.

Chun said goodbye to him and left him alone. He was walking towards the school's exit, when his phone rang. He took it from his pocket, and saw an unfamiliar number flashing on the screen. “Hello?” he said. “Hello, is this Mr. Arron Yan?” the girl on the other line said. “Yes, it's me.” he said. “Mr. Yan, we have some bad news for you, regarding your girlfriend, Ms. Daphne Lin...”

--

“She's in critical condition...” the doctor told him. Arron became pale at what he said. He felt that his remaining strength were drained at what the doctor said. “She have a rheumatic heart disease, and she needs to undergo a surgery soon. If not, we couldn't assure you that she'll survive.” the doctor continued Arron looked away from him, and gazed at Daphne, who was sleeping peacefully on her bed. “How long will she survive without the operation?” he asked. “Three months at the most.” the doctor said. He closed his eyes, fighting the urge to cry. The thought of losing Daphne was breaking his own heart. If he had thee will, he would ask the doctor to do the surgery on her now, but he doesn't have the money for Daphne's heart surgery.”If... If I get enough money in three months time, will... will she live?” he asked. “It might be too late by that time, Mr. Yan...” the doctor said.

He bit his lips, and then he forced a smile at the doctor. After thanking him, the doctor left him alone with Daphne. He walked towards her bed, and sat beside her. He gazed at her for a long time as he brushed away the strands of her hair. “What should I do? I don't know what to do... God... please help me. I... I don't want Daphne to die...” he thought. Just then, Daphne slowly opened her smile, and as she saw him, she smiled at him. “Hey...” she said weakly. “Hey, baby...” he said, forcing a smile on his face. “Sorry, I got you worried. Maybe I overworked myself...” she said. Arron nodded his head. “You... you did make me worry, baby...” he said in a low voice. “Everything will be OK, right? I'm going to be fine, baby...” she said. Arron just nodded his head. Then, he leaned to her, and kissed her on her forehead. As soon as he saw her close her eyes to sleep, he let the tears fall from his eyes.

--

Arron entered the restaurant, and at one corner, he saw a lone elder man sitting. He took a deep breath, and walked up to him. “Sir...” he said. The elder man looked at him, and gestured him to seat in front of him. “I am surprised that you called me, Arron.” the elder man said. “I know that you wouldn't want to see me, Mr. Lin... and I'm glad that you agreed to meet me today.” he said. The elder man glared at him, as he leaned back on his chair. “What do you want? You said over the phone that this is important. This should be really important, young man. I don't want to waste my time on you.” he said. Arron lowered his head before he could speak again. “It... it's about Daphne...” he said.

Then, there was silence.
“Honestly...” Mr. Lin finally said. “I don't give a damn about her anymore. When she chose you over us, I have assumed that my only daughter is dead.” he said. Arron could feel the tears forming at the corner of his eyes again. He have no other choice but to do this, to give up his pride. “I'm sorry... I'm sorry if... if Daphne have disobeyed you because of me. Sir, I do love your daughter. I love her with all my heart. I am willing to give up everything for her...” he said. He heard Mr. Lin sigh in dismay. He looked up at him, and saw him standing up from his seat. “You sure know how to waste my time.” he said.

He turned his back on him, and began to step away from him. Before he could get out of his sight, Arron stood up from his seat, and followed him.. “Mr. Lin, Daphne is dying.” he blurted out. This made the old man stop. After a while, he turned to face him again. “She... she need your help now. Please, Mr. Lin. Please help your daughter. She... she needs to get an operation soon.”he said. The elder man looked at him for a long time. Arron bit his lips, trying his best not to cry in front of him. This is his last resort to save Daphne, and he have to convince him to help her. He swallowed his pride wholly, as he begged for his mercy. “Please, Mr. Lin...” he said in a low voice. He knelt down in front of him, begging him for his help. “Please help Daphne. Please... I... I don't want her to die...” he said. Tears were falling down his cheeks uncontrollably. “Please...”

The elder man just looked at him as he pleaded. “How much do you love my daughter?” he asked. “I love Daphne very much. I.. I would do everything for her... everything... I... I just can't lose her...” he said in between sobs, “If you love my daughter, then you would do this favor for me. I will pay for all her medical bills, and bring her to specialist abroad. But, there is one thing I want you to do.” the elder man said. Arron looked up at him. He waited for him to speak. “I'll do anything...” Arron whispered. “I want you to get out of my daughter's life after her operation. I want you to leave her, and give her back to us.” Mr. Lin said. Arron closed his eyes, and bit his lip. He has no other choice but to accept his condition, if he wants Daphne to survive. He realized it would be for her best. Daphne only suffers when he's with him. He wanted her to have a good life, and it's something he can't give to her right now. He knew Daphne would live a better life if he returns her back to her parents. He finally made a decision for her. With his eyes closed, he slowly nodded his head, accepting her father's condition.

--

Daphne slowly opened her eyes, and the first person she saw is Arron, who was sleeping peacefully beside her. She reached up to him, and brushed his hair. She smiled to herself as she watched him sleep. Then, she could feel him moving. He opened his eyes, and then looked at her. “You're awake now...” he said, smiling sadly. “I am. Arron... thank you...” she said. Arron sat up, and then stroked her hair. “Thank you for what?” he asked. Daphne smiled sweetly, yet wearily at him. “Thank you for keeping your promise... that you will be the first person I'll see after I wake up from the surgery...” she said.

Arron felt a lump in his throat as he opened his mouth to speak. Now that Daphne is well, he have to keep his word to her father. He pursed his lips, trying to hold back the tears. He leaned over her, and then gave her a long kiss on the lips. As he stared into her face, he could feel his heart being broken into a million pieces. He only wanted to be with this girl for the rest of his life, to take care of her until they grow old. But he have to keep his word, his promise, to that one person who saved Daphne's life. He have to leave Daphne soon, and give her back to the people who loved her the most, and the people who could give her everything that she needed and wanted.

--

“Young man...” Arron heard Mr. Lin call as soon as he got out of the hospital room. Arron paused, and then turned to face him. “Sir...” he said. “We have a deal. And you should keep your part of the bargain.” he said. Arron lowered his head. “Give me more time... to be with her... please...” he pleaded. “I have given you enough time!” Mr.. Lin shouted at him. Arron lifted his head to face him. His eyes were begging him. “Please, sir. I love your daughter. And... and if I leave her just like that, then she would question you... us... please sir... give me more time to be with her. I... I promise you... I assure you she will return to you.” he pleaded. He walked up to the elder man, and held his hand. “Please, sir... please...” he said again. Mr. Lin looked down at him sternly. Then, he put his hands off of him. “I'm giving you a month.” he said. “A month, and you should break up with my daughter.”

--

Arron held Daphne's hand, as she led her down the stairs. She had her blindfolds on so that she wouldn't be able to see his surprise for her. “Arron, baby... you know I hate surprises...” she said. “Aiyo, baby... you will like it. I promise you.” he said. They went outside their apartment, and as soon as they were on their spot, Arron walked behind him. “Ready?” he asked. Daphne smiled, and nodded her her. He untied her blindfold, and from the grassy ground, she saw that Arron have prepared a picnic for the two of them. “Arron... you shouldn't have...” she said as she looked at him. Arron just smiled at him. He knelt down on the picnic blanket, and took a bouquet of roses. “This is for you, my princess...” he said. Daphne took the roses from his hand, and buried her nose in it, inhaling its smell. “I love it, baby, I really do.” she said. Arron pulled Daphne into a hug. He embraced her tight, as if he will never let her go. “I love you, Daphne... always remember that. I love you so much, and I would do everything to make you happy.” he whispered to her. Daphne looked at him, and smiled sweetly. “I love you too, Arron. As long as you're with me, nothing else matters. You're all I ever needed in this life.” she said.

He gazed into her face for a long time, memorizing everything about her. He closed his eyes, and gently caressed her cheeks. He moved closer to her, and then their noses touched. He took a deep breath, and inhaled her sweet scent. “I love you...” he whispered again. Then, he reached for her lips, and kissed her lovingly on her lips.

As they broke away from that kiss, both of them look up at the night sky and saw a meteor shower. “Look baby! There's a lot of shooting stars. Let's make a wish, all right?” Daphne said. Arron smiled, and nodded his head. He watched her as she closed her eyes and clasp her hands to make her wish. He was fighting back the tears as he saw her smile as she make her wish. “Daphne... I will miss you... I know I will forever regret this decision, but I would rather be away from you because I know, one day we will meet again... I would rather have it this way than lose you forever...” he thought. “Arron, aren't you going to make your wish?” she asked. Arron forced a smile, and nodded his head. He clasped his hand, and closed his eyes to make his wish. “God, I wish... I wish someday I will get to see Daphne again... and I wish... the next time we meet, we will together forever...” he prayed.

--

“Arron, baby! I'm home!” she said. She turned the lights on, and found the house empty. “Weird...” she thought as she placed the grocery bags on the table. “Arron should've been here a few hours ago...” She walked towards the stairs, and she noticed a girl's shoe lying on it. Anxiously, Daphne took it, and looked at it closely. “This. This isn't mine...” she thought. She felt her heat beating faster as she made her way up to their room. She wished her instincts isn't right, and that she was just being paranoid. She knows Arron loves her so much, and that he would not cheat on her.

She made a careful step as she walked to their room. As she reached for the knob, she heard some moaning sound inside the room. “Arron, it tickles!” she heard a girl say. “You're so ticklish, Gui Gui...” Arron said. She heard the girl giggle behind the door. She closed her eyes, and with her remaining strength, she opened the room. There was a shock on her face as she saw Arron naked. He was on top of a girl, whom she recognized as one of his classmates at the uni. All kinds of emoitions filled her – she was furious, she was heartbroken. She was betrayed by the only man whom she trusts with her eyes closed. She could not believe that Arron would do this to her, would cheat on her, right inside their house.

“How... why? Why did you do this?” she asked him. Arron got up from the bed, and immediately covered himself. “Daphne, let's talk about this.” he said. Daphne shook her head. She wiped the tears from her cheek, and ran away from that scene. “Daphne!” Arron called. Before he could make a move, Gui Gui held his hand to stop him. “Arron, you said it's over between you. You planned this to break her heart, and now that she left you, why would still want to follow her?” Gui Gui asked him. Arron looked at her sadly. “Because, although I want her to leave me, I can't let her leave me just like this...” he said. He pulled his arm, and then put on his clothes to follow Daphne.

--

“Daph...” he called. He found her seating at the swing in a nearby park. Daphne looked up at him, and wiped the tears from her eyes. It was hurting him to see Daphne like this. He never want to break her heart, but he have no other choice. He have to give her up. “I'm sorry...” he said as he walked towards her. “All this time.. you and Gui Gui...” Daphne managed to ask in between tears. Arron closed his eyes to what seems like forever. “Don't you love me anymore?” she asked. Arron took a deep breath, and slowly he nodded his head to lie to her. “Yes. I have fallen out of love with you.” he lied. He opened his eyes, and saw Daphne in tears again. “I'm so sorry...” he said.

Then, she stood up, and slapped him.

“Why?” she shouted at him. “I love you, Arron! I've given you everything! Everything! I left my family just for you. I sacrificed my life for you. I did everything for you. Why? Why do you have to fall out of love with me?” she asked. He tried to look at her bravely. He tried his best to look so emotionless. He tried his best not to break down in front of her. He have to. He had to. “I woke up one day and realized that this relationship is going nowhere, Daphne. I'm getting tired of this. I just realized I don't love you in the same way that I loved you before. I'm sorry...” he said. She slapped him again. “I hope one day... I hope one day you will regret breaking my heart.” she said.

He watched her as she turned her back, and leave him alone. It's all over between them. He have kept his part of the deal, just to keep Daphne alive. “I know I will...” he whispered. “I regret letting you go now...”

--

Arron stood before a day care center. He doesn't know why, but his feet have dragged him here. He watched the kids as they happily played at the playground. He smiled to himself as he saw the children enjoying themselves. If only he have not let Daphne go, maybe by now they already have a kid of their own, but he did what he had to do. Knowing that Daphne is alive is living a good life is more important to him. It''s more than enough for him.

“Children! It's time for class!”

Arron heard a familiar voice. He turned around, and saw Daphne standing outside, leading the children inside. He felt his heart begin to beat fast at the glimpse of her lovely face. Ten years have passed, and she was as beautiful as the last time he could remember. He felt as if he is falling in love with her again, just like the very first time they met. He have never stopped loving her. All this time that they were apart, he kept on loving her even more. He was longing for her, and he was wishing that someday, he would be able to see her again. And God answered his prayers today. After the long wait, here he is, standing before the girl he loves the most.

“Daphne!”

She heard a familiar voice calling her. She felt a thug in her heart as she realized whose voice is it. “Arron...” she thought. Slowly, she looked back, and caught a glimpse of his boyish face again. It's been ten years since she last saw him, and seeing him again made her more confused. How many times have she told herself that she have learned to move on? How many times have she convinced herself that she doesn't love her anymore. Now that she saw him again, it only proves that she was wrong. There was still a little love for him left inside her heart.

She turned her back again to run inside, but Arron ran after her. He held her arms to stop her from running away from him. “Daphne...” he called in a soft voice She turned to face him, her eyes were red with tears. “Why did you have to come back to my life?” she asked. “You left me ten years ago. You said you don't love me anymore... and now, you're standing here in front of me. Do you know what I've gone through after you left me? I've tried so hard to forget you, Arron. I've tried my best to convince myself that I don't love you anymore. How can I continue loving a man who never loves me anymore?” she said. Arron held her by her shoulder, and looked into her eyes. It's about time for him to tell her the truth. He promised himself before that if he found her again, he will correct his mistakes, and that he will never let her slip away again this time. “I never fell out of love with you, Daphne...” he said. Daphne fell silent at what he said. She was surprised by his revelation. “You... you said...” she said, shaking her head. She lowered her head so that she could not meet his eyes. “I lied, Daphne. I lied.” he said.

Daphne looked up at him again. “You.. lied? Then...” Arron stared into her eyes. He reached for cheeks, and caressed it gently. “I lied. When I left you, I am still in love with you...” he started. “I... I had to leave you... because I was too scared to lose you. It's a deal between me and your dad... that time, when you got sick, I've got no other choice but to seek help from him. He agreed to help you, in the condition that you will return to them, and that I will be out of your life completely. I agreed to that condition, because I was too scared that you will die. I would rather lose you, knowing that you're still alive. At least there is still hope that one day, I will be able to find you again. I don't want you to be gone like that in an instant, because if you die, I die as well. Daphne, you are my life. You are the very reason why I keep on striving to live. It's you... it has always been you...” he said. By the time he was finished, his eyes were filled with tears as well. “Will you forgive me? I know what I did in the past is selfish and stupid. I regret what I did, Daphne. I regret breaking your heart. It's the only thing I thought that would make you leave me... but I don't regret giving you back to your parents because you're here... you're alive. I know I could never give you all the luxury in the world. I know I only made you suffer while you're with me... that's why I made that decision for you, Daphne...”

With that, Daphne gave him a hug. She never thought that Arron loved her so much, that he chose to give her up so that she could stay alive. They have wasted too much time, and now that he's back here in her life, she will never let him go. “Why? Why didn't you tell me, Arron? “ she asked. “Because I know it would be much harder on your part, Daphne. If I ask you to go, will you go?” he asked. He felt her shook his head. “It doesn't matter if I suffer... as long as I'm with you, I'll be very contented...” she said. Then, she pulled away from his hug, and smiled at him. “I never lost hope in you. I knew one day, I will be able to see you again, Daphne. I know... even if we're worlds apart, you'll find the way back to my heart. I love you, Daphne...” he said. She reached up to him, and caressed his cheek. “I love you too, Arron. I will love you for the rest of my life...” she said. Then, he kissed her on the lips, promising her the this time, it's for keeps.

Carousel

Do you remember that time?

We were still young. You were 12, while I was 10. You took my hand, and led me to the carousel. Side by side, we rode the porcelain horses. You held my hand as we go round and round. I laughed, and you showed me that toothy smile. Your eyes sparkles, it once showed the innocence in our youth. We were happy that time, contented with the life we lived. And I knew right then in my young heart, that I have fallen in love with you.

Years passed by, and you grew to be a handsome young man that all the girls fall in love with. I was a shy nerdy girl whom nobody takes notice of. You were sixteen, I was fourteen. Slowly, we drifted apart. You were too cool to hang out with someone like me, I understand, and I can only look at you from afar. I can only have stolen glances of you, afraid that my eyes would give away what I truly feel for you. The small love I had for you in my heart since I was ten grew gradually each day. For the first time in my life, I had the taste of heartache, and that was when I walked into you and another girl kissing by the hidden corners of the school's corridor. I could still how my heart was breaking that time. I could still remember how salty those bitter tears that fell from my eyes. I ran away from that scene. I ran away, hoping that somehow, it would ease the pain.

But I was wrong.

Each time you pass by my, and give me that warm sunshine smile of yours, I could still my heart breaking. Each time I hear you talking about that girl, how your eyes light up the way it used to light up when I'm with you, my heart becomes heavy.

I decided to go.

I decided to stay away from you.

But why is it that when I try to stay away from you, you follow me like a stray shadow, longing for someone's attention?

You were twenty, I was eighteen.

They said I grew up to be a fine young lady, and the once nerdy and shy girl in me have faded. You were gone for college for quite some time, and then you came back. Still, you had that warm and sunshine smile you give to everyone else. When you speak my name, it felt like a thousand angels were singing above me. You held my hand again, the way you held it when we were at the carousel, as if you will not let me go. And your hand is still as warm as ever. You noticed me now. You noticed how beautiful I've become, and how pretty my eyes were. You sing praises to me, and I thought you have finally opened up your heart for me.

And I was wrong, yet again.

You were 23, I was 21.

You were fresh from college, and about to start to work for your dad. I waited for you for a long time, hoping this time you will say the words I long to hear. But my heart was broken once more when I saw you enter the mansion, with a petite girl beside you. You looked at her lovingly. You smiled only at her. You speak those three words, and I could only watch at you sadly as you kiss her on the lips. You then announced that you were marrying her. I was surprised, frustrated, heartbroken. I came up to you, and wished you happiness. You only smiled at me. You didn't notice my voice faltering as I congratulate you. And then, I turned away... as I walked away from you, the tears started to cascade in my eyes.

I was defeated.

I finally understand that I could never have your love. So I decided to let you go...

Do you still remember that time?

We stood by the old carousel, watching as the old porcelain horses spun around and around. It was a day before your wedding, and you asked me to meet you. You asked me if I still remember those days, those happy moments we remember we had in this carousel.

I paused.

I looked at you, and forced a smile.

Yes, I still remember those times, I said.

Then, I turn, and walk away from you. I wanted to say so much more. I wanted to say I love you. I wanted to ask you to love me back. I wanted to hug you, and kiss you, hoping that with those gestures, you would understand how I feel. I wanted to tell you that I have loved you since we were young, and I long to be with you for the rest of my life.

But I can't.

Because there is someone out there, loving you. And I know you love her. The only left thing to do is let you go, for your happiness...

--

Do you still remember that time?

I asked you that the last time we met in this carousel. You said yes, you remember those times, and then, you turned to leave me. You left without hearing those words I wanted to tell you.

I was twelve, and you were ten. I remember how we happily sat at the back of the porcelain horses. I remember your sweet smiled and melodious laugh. I remember holding your small hand, not wanting to let it go. I knew at that moment, I loved you.

Sometimes, I wonder, what happened to us, why we slowly drifted apart. You were fourteen, and I was sixteen. I was a popular kid in school, and you were the shy one. When I look at you, you turn away from me. When I approach you for a little talk, to turn away from me like a scared little cat. I was frustrated. I wanted to tell you what's in your heart, but I felt that you are rejecting me.

Yes, I saw you when I kissed that girl. You tears caught my eyes. As I pushed the girl away, I tried to follow you, but you have gone from my sight. Since then, you decided to stay away from me, and it broke my heart. The night before I leave before college, I spent it watching over your window, whispering those three words I wanted to tell you. But I guess, you will never hear it anyway.

You turned eighteen, I turned twenty. When I saw you again, you grew up to be a fine young lady. The once shy and nerdy girl I fell in love with have gone. But still, I loved you even more. I love the way you smile shyly at me. I love the way you blush when I tell you how pretty you are. Each time I hold your hand, I wish not to let you go. That moment that we were together, I wanted to tell you what's inside my heart. I wanted to look into your eyes forever, and be lost in it. I wanted you so much that it's breaking my heart. I had to leave you again, and the thought of our distance apart is breaking my heart.

Then, I met a wonderful girl. She was exactly like you. She was as shy, yet as vibrant as you. She had the same smile that brightens my day, exactly the same as your smile. She had the same big black orbs that I wanted to gaze at for a long time. I was twenty three, and you just turned twenty one. I remember the sad look on your face as I introduce her. I remember the forced smile on your lips as you congratulate us for our engagement. You said you're happy for me, but I could hear your voice cracking. You wanted to cry, but you can't let me see the tears in your eyes.

Do you still remember that time?

I asked you to meet me at the carousel. We watched as the old porcelain horses spun around and around. It brought back memories of our childhood, and the feelings I had for you. I asked you if you still remember the last time we were here.

You paused,

And you said, yes, you still remember.

I wanted to say so much more, but you turned away and left me alone. I wanted to run after you, and hug you tight. I wanted to kiss your cherry lips, and tell you that I love you. If you just say those words, then we could be together.

But you chose to give up on me.

And I decided to go on with my life...

And marry the woman who's only a mere shadow of you...

--

I will always remember that time...

I stood before this carousel, tears falling from my eyes. If I had the power, I will turn back the hand of times.

I will embrace you tight.
I will kiss you more.
I wiil hold your hand and never let it go.
I will tell you how much I love you.

But it's too late...

I will never be able to embrace you again. I will never be able to kiss you again. I will never have the chance to hold your small hand. I will never be able to tell you how much I love you...

God took you away from me, and it was on the day I decided to follow my heart.

It was on my wedding day.

I realized I could never be with her, because it was you... it has always been you. When I turn to her, and said that I'm sorry for not marrying her, I turn to rush out of the church. I wanted to chase after you. I thought I wasn't too late yet, that I could still make things right...

But you left me.

You left me forever.

That night, the news of you dying from that car accident came to me. I never felt this much pain in my life before. You left me again, and this time, it's for good. At the thought that I will never see each other again, I could feel my heart breaking into a million pieces. I will never be able to see you smiling my way again, or the way you blush at me, or how your eyes light up when I call your name. Loneliness filled my heart, and at the same time, tearing it apart. I spent the whole night crying for your loss. I spent the whole night crying for my unrequited love. I spent the whole night crying my heart out, regretting not being able to let you feel my love for you. I regret not telling those words...

I love you...

And I know you can never hear it anymore.

I will always remember you...

In this carousel...

Because my love for you, like these old porcelain horses will always go on and on...

--

Yes, I will always remember...

That I fell in love with you in this carousel...

The Four Seasons of Love - Autumn

Part 4: Autumn – Three Words

If loving you is wrong,
Then why does it feel so right?

--

He stared at her innocent face. He gently caressed her cheeks as he watched her slumber peacefully. It’s only during this time that Chun could let her feel how much he loves her. He smiled to himself as he tries to remember since when he started to feel that way towards Qiao En - maybe since they were still kids. She is his first love, and she will remain to be her only love.

As the truth dawned onto him, his smile slowly faded. Although he loved her so much, he could never let Qiao En know about it. He can’t let the whole world know about it. Then, Qiao En let out a soft moan. Maybe she’s dreaming, he thought. He wondered what could be her dream. Is it possible that she’s dreaming of him, just like how he dreamed of her every night? But it would be impossible… Qiao En would never dream of him..

“Ge ge…” he heard Qiao En say. Chun held her hand to assure her he’s there beside her. “I though you left…” she said groggily, then she smiled at him. “I promised you I’ll stay here till you wake up…” he said. “I know you could never resist your little sister…” she said, then she went back to sleep. Gently, he kissed her forehead. He looked at her face and stared at her lips. He was trying to resist kissing her lips. He have always wanted to kiss her, but it would be wrong, Everything that he feels for Qiao En is wrong – in the eyes of their family, in the eyes of everyone, and in the eyes of God. But what can he do? He can’t help but fall in love with his sister…

--

Chun waited for Qiao En outside the school. Today is a special day for him, because he finally decided to tell her how he feel. He doesn’t know what will be her reaction, or what will be the consequences of his action, but he know he’ll regret it if he won’t be able to tell her before he leaves for college. He smiled at the thought of her innocent face. Ever since they were kids, he knew he love her more than a sister. He was hesitant to tell Qiao En that he loves her, but with the advice of his best friend, Yu Wei, he finally decided to let her know what’s inside his heart.

“Tell her how you feel…” Yu Wei said one afternoon as they watched Qiao En practice for a school play. He looked at him with sadness in his eyes. “You know I could never do that…” he said in a low voice. “You know our situation, right?” Yu Wei just sighed as he looked at Chun. “I know the situation, and I know everything is wrong… but you could at least let her know. You’ll never know if she feels the same way for you…”
“Yu Wei, she’s my sister. We’re blood-related. If I tell her that I love her, she’ll take it as a brotherly love…”
Yu Wei smiled at his friend and he put his arm around his shoulder. “It’s worth the risk… trust me.”

--

Qiao En hurriedly ran towards the school gate to meet her brother. That morning, Chun told her that they will go somewhere for he have to tell her something important. She saw Chun standing near the gate. She smiled to herself. Today, Chun is more handsome than the past few days. Maybe he really prepares for this day. “I wonder what it is he’s going to tell me…” she thought. She imagined that Chun will be telling her he loves her, not as a sister, but more than that. But then, she realized that could not happen. Chun dotes on her because she’s his favorite, albeit, his only sister, but with his sweetness towards her, she can’t help but fall in love with his brother.

Or maybe he will tell her he was accepted at the university he wanted to go to. The though of him leaving for college pains her, but she knows her brother will be back once in a while. Or maybe he’ll tell her he already have a girlfriend. Qiao En’ smile faded at the latter thought. Eventually, Chun will get himself a girlfriend, and all his attention will be diverted to the other girl, She couldn’t bear the thought that Chun would love another girl. She’s just not read for it, and she will never be…

--

“Ge…” Qiao En called when she got near to Chun. Chun looked back and smiled as he saw Qiao En. “Hello, Mei Mei…” he said. Qiao En smiled back at him. “So where’s your girlfriend?” she asked. Chun gave her a confused look. “What girlfriend?”
“The one you want me to meet?”
“Meet? What do you mean?”
“You told me you’re going to tell me something important, so I assume you want me to meet your girlfriend. Besides, it looks like you really prepared for this…”

Chun just laughed at what she said. His sister gave him a startled look. “Silly girl…” he said as he rubbed her head. “I don’t have girlfriend. Yet.”
“But… but what is it that you want to tell me?”
Chun smiled at her and held her hand. “You’ll find out soon.”

--

They went to the park near their house. As they were walking, Chun was rehearsing in his head what he was about to say to Qiao En, but it seems the lines that he thought up are awful. “It’s harder that I thought…” he thought. Qiao En noticed that Chun was silent along the way. “Ge, is there something wring?” she asked. Chun looked at her and smiled. “No, Qiao En. I’m just rehearsing what I’m about to tell you…” he explained. Qiao En just smiled at him.

Then, Chun saw a flower stand at the other side of the street. He decided to buy one for Qiao En and give it to her. “Qiao En, wait for me here. I have to go at the other side.” He said. Qiao En just nodded her head. She watched as Chun ran on the other side, then she realized that Chun dropped his wallet. She took his wallet from the ground and ran after Chun. “Chun!” she shouted. But as she ran, she didn’t notice the car behind her…

--

Chun ran to the other side and bought her a long stemmed rose. Then, he realized his wallet was missing. As he looked back, he heard a loud screech, followed by a loud thud. He looked back, and he saw Qiao En lying on the road, with blood all over her body. He felt like his back was poured with cold water with what he saw. “Qiao En!” he shouted. He ran after his sister who was lying lifeless on the ground. The car that hit her ran away. that moment that he saw her he was scared to lose her.

He took her into his arms and tried to wake her up. “Qiao En.. Qiao En.. wake up!” he said nervously. Qiao En slowly opened her eyes and smiled at him, then she shut her eyes again. “Qiao En.. Qiao En we’ll get you to the hospital! No!” he shouted. He shouted for help, hoping somebody would help him save the girl he loves…

--

Chun knelt before the chapel’s altar that evening. They rushed Qiao En at the hospital, and the doctor said that her injuries are severe, that she might not make it. Tear fell from his eyes as his fervently prayed to God. “Lord.. I know it was wrong for me to love her…” he said. “I know I shouldn’t feel this way towards my sister… but I really do love her… please… please don’t take her away… please don’t let her die… please Lord… take me instead. Take me as her replacement. I will sacrifice my life for her…” he prayed.

Then, his father came inside the chapel, and sat beside him “Son…” his father said. He wiped the tears in his eyes and looked at his father. “Qiao En’s awake… she’s going to be OK…” Chun nodded his head and smiled. Then he looked up at the cross. “Thank you…” he said. He knew he have to keep his promise.

--

“Are you sure?”
“Yes I am very sure about my decision…”
“But you are their only son…”
“This is my sacrifice…”
”Have you told her yet?”
“She doesn’t have to know… And she will never know…”
”But… but why do you have to do this?”
“I asked Him to take me instead of her… That’s how much I love her…”
“Then good luck to you… I hope you will be happy with your decision…”

--

Qiao En stood by the garden with tears in her eye. Today is the day that Chun will leave. A week later, she found out that Chun decided to be a priest, and today, he will enter the seminary. She regret not telling him how much he loves her, for she never had a chance. Chun was busy fixing his papers, and it seems that he avoids her since that accident. “Chun… if you only knew how it breaks my heart to see you leave…” she thought.

“I knew you’ll be here…” he heard a familiar voice say. She turned around and saw Chun walking towards her. “Aren’t you going to say goodbye to your brother?” he asked. She looked up at him, and began to cry. Chun hugged her tight, his tears falling down his cheeks as well. “Remember what I promised you before? I’ll be back once in a while…”
“But you’re leaving to enter the seminary, not for a university, Chun…” she said. Chun closed his eyes. “If you only knew the reason why, Qiao En… this is for you.. this is my sacrifice for you…” he said in a low voice. He looked at her, then gently kissed her on the forehead. “I know I will never love another girl aside from you…” he said silently. “Chun… I can’t even tell you how I feel before you leave…” Qiao En thought.

“Good bye, Qiao En. I’ll see you when I’m already Father Chun Wu…” he said. As he walked away, Qiao En cried again. “Chun.. I love you…” she said silently. She understand that those words are forbidden for her to say to him.

As he turned to leave, tears cascaded in his eyes. “I love you, Qiao En…” he said to himself. “I will always love you…”

The Four Seasons of Love - Winter

Part 3: Winter - Ti Amo

What he didn't see after she turned her back to leave,
Was the tears that fell from her eyes...

--

Aaron stared at the ring on the palm of his hand. a few seconds ago, Selina handed it to him. Then, he looked up at the emotionless eyes of the girl standing in front of him. "Selina?" he asked as he stared into her eyes. That snowy afternoon, Selina asked him to meet her by the lake. She said that she needed to tell him something very important. "We're through." Selina said. "I'm breaking up with you."

Aaron felt his heart breaking into pieces upon hearing her words. They have been together for years, and he loved her more than anything in his life. Selina is his world. She is the very reason why he wants to wake up each morning. She is the reason why he works hard each day, so that someday he could prove to her family that he's worthy of her. Right from the start, her family disapproves of their relationship, but they did everything to stay together.

"But why?" he asked. His voice was shaky. He was trying to hold back the tears from falling. "Did I do anything wrong? Was there something I didn't do or didn't say to you? Please Selina, don't do this... we can make it work out..." he pleaded. Selina turned her gaze at the other direction. "I don't love you anymore." she said. "I realized my family's right. You don't deserve me. Not a poor orphan like you." Aaron was shocked at what she said. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out of his mouth. It's true, her family, especially her father, disapprove of him simply because he's just a poor boy abandoned by his family. Selina's family is one of the wealthiest family in Taiwan, and he knows he is nothing compared to them. "I'm going to marry Alan Luo. Besides, we've been arranged to be married since we were kids. I know he could give me everything I want." she continued. "You're lying, Selina. I know you still love me. Your father's just making you do this - "
"I said I don't love you! Not anymore, Aaron Yan... you have to accept that."

Selina looked into his eyes, and Aaron finally understood that at that moment, what she said is true. "Selina..."
"Please don't make it hard for me, Aaron. Just go. Just leave. You have a music scholarship waiting for you in Vienna. Just forget me. You can't waste your life loving a girl who doesn't love you anymore..."
Aaron nodded his head as he wiped the tears on his eyes. "You're right, Selina..." he said bitterly. "Not a poor pianist like me culd deserve the rich and beautiful Selina Ren..."
"Then this is goodbye, Aaron Yan."

With that, Selina turned her back and started to walk away from the man she loves.

--

The snow started to fall, but Aaron remained standing as he watched the girl he loves walk away from him. He clutched the ring in his hand as the tears fell again from his eyes. "Everything I did for us seemed worthless..." he thought. "You're right, Selina. I don't deserve you, but you don't deserve my love either..." Then, he turned his back to leave. He decided to walk away from everything and move on. "One day..." he swore to himself. "I will be able to forget you... and you will regret why you broke my heart..."

--

Selina closed her eyes as tears began to cascade from her face. "I'm sorry, Aaron..." she said to herself. "I'm sorry... I don't want to do this but I have to..." She looked back to the spot where she left him, but he's already gone. "I don't want to hurt you but I have to do this... I have to let you go..." she whispered. "I love you Aaron... I will always love you..."

--

Two Years Later

Aaron Yan stepped out of the limousine and went inside the hotel. After two years of staying in Vienna, he's back in Taiwan to stage a concert. But the truth is, he never wanted to go back to Taiwan. It will only remind him of a bitter past that he was trying to forget.

Two years have passed, and he still could not forget Selina. He tried to fool around with other girls while he was away, but when they ask for a commitment from him, he would dump them. He's not yet ready for another relationship. Not after what Selina did to him. But then again, he's glad to be back. Two years ago, he was just a poor boy who have nothing. Now he is a famous pianist. He could prove to the Ren family that he is a "somebody" now.

"How does it feel to be back in Taiwan, Aaron?" his manager, Jay Chou, asked. Aaron stopped and looked at him. "Do you want me to lie, or do you want me to tell you the truth?" he snapped back. Jay didn't dare to answer him back.

As they were about to enter the elevator, he heard a familiar voice calling out his name. He looked back and he saw two of his bodyguards trying to block a girl. "I know him... please let me through!" he heard her plead. Aaron walked towards her, only to realize that it was Selina's sister, Kimi. "Let her through. Don't worry, I know her." he said to his bodyguards. His bodyguards then let Kimi go. "What is it that you want, Kimi Ren?" he asked in a sharp tone. Kimi was shocked at how cold he treated her. "Aaron..."
"Look, I have to face the press in a few hours, so please stop wasting my time."
"Aaron, I just want to talk to you about my sister -"
"I don't care about your sister anymore. By this time, I know she's happily married to Alan Luo."

Kimi shook her head as he speaks. "No, Aaron... you don't understand..."
"What is it that I don't understand? Two years ago, your sister broke my heart. I've spent the last two years trying to forget her!" Aaron shouted at Kimi. Tears began to fall from his eyes again, as he remembered Selina. He thought he was able to forget the pain, but hearing her name again made him realize that he have not yet moved on. "Your sister dumped because she realized I could never give her everything. She broke up with me that time because she realized she doesn't love me anymore. What is it that I don't understand?" he asked Kimi. Kimi looked into his eyes. "I want you to understand that it wasn't you who was hurt when Selina broke up with you." she said in a low voice. "It's about time that you know the real reason why she let you go..."

"She didn't want to break up with you... but she though it would be the best for you..."

Aaron walked as fast as he could so that he could see Selina once again. What Kimi told him a while ago still echoed on his mind. He followed Kimi though the hospital's hallway, as they find Selina's room.

"Selina knew that if you found out about her condition, you will not go to Vienna for your scholarship. That's why she lied to you..."

He should have gave up on Selina that time. Didn't he sensed that she was just lying to him when she said she doesn't love him anymore? But he chose to believe her words...

"She said she doesn't want to be a burden to you, that's why she chose to let you go..."

But she forgot that he promised her that he will always take care of her. That he will be there for her through thick and thin. Why didn't she trusted his promise?

"She's dying, Aaron...and we don't know until when she would live. Please Aaron... please see here for the last time... I know she's silently praying to see you again before she dies..."

Finally, they reached Selina's room. As Kimi opened the door, he found her parents beside her bed. Her mom cried upon seeing him, and then she hugged him. Her dad also hugged him. Aaron later found out that a week before they broke up, Selina's father finally accepted him, and gave them his blessings.

He saw Selina's weak body lying on the hospital bed. She was sleeping peacefully. Although she looked pale, for him, she still looked beautiful like an angel. Two years ago, Selina was diagnosed to have a heart disease. The doctor said that she won't live long. This was the reason why Selina chose to let him go - she didn't want to hurt Aaron when she leaves this world. She have been in a coma for a week now after her last attack. The doctor said that she might not wake up anymore, and that she might eventually die. Her family still hopes for a miracle that she would wake up for the last time.

Aaron knelt beside her bed and gently held her hand and kissed it. He caressed her cheek and combed the strands of her hair with his finger. "Selina... I am here... please wake up..." he whispered. His prayer was answered, and at that instance, Selina slowly opened her eyes. The first person she saw is Aaron. "Aaron..." she whispered. She began to cry as she saw him, and Aaron cried as well the moment she woke up. "Yes, Selina... I am here and I will never leave your side..." he said in a low voice. "I'm sorry Aaron..."
"I know you have your reasons, Selina... I have forgiven you..."
"I'm sorry... I never wanted to hurt you..."
"Ssshh... It's OK now.. I am here now and I will never let you go this time..."

Aaron kissed her in her forehead, as she fell into slumber once again.

--

Aaron stayed beside Selina the whole day. Although she have awaken, the doctor still said that she might die soon. Her next seizure might be fatal. He stayed beside her that night, afraid that he will lose Selina again.

It was midnight, and the first snow began to fall from the evening sky. Aaron held her hand as he fell asleep beside her. Then he felt her move, and he woke up. "Selina..." he called. Selina smiled faintly at him. "Aaron... tell me..." she said in a weak voice. "Is it snowing outside?" Aaron nodded his head. "It is. It's finally winter, Selina..."
"Did you know... winter always remind me of you..." he did not answer her. He just wanted to hear what Selina's saying. "Winter always remind me of how we met... of how we loved... of how I broke your heart..." she continued. "Selina... you should've told me about your condition... then maybe... may be I shouldn't have left..." he said. Selina shook her head. "It's the best decision I've made in my entire life. If I hadn't let you go, you won't be able to fulfill your dreams... and I would end up hurting you more..." Aaron sat beside her and help her hand tight. He could feel that Selina's running out of time, and he could only pray to God to let him have more time with her before He takes her away. He knows Selina also want to tell him what's in her heart.

"I have always loved you Aaron... there was never a time that I never think of you... you were always in my mind and in my heart..."she said. She slowly closed her eyes as she smiled at him. "All this time, I prayed and wished to see you again... for the last time... before He takes me.. not that you're here... I can - "
"No Selina... please don't leave yet... don't go..." Aaron said. His tears were flowing from his eyes again. "What matters is that you're here... God answered my prayer..."

Aaron took her hand and kissed it again. "I love you Selina... I have always loved you..." he said. "I love you too Aaron... I wish I could stay long to prove to you that I do... love... you..."

Then, Selina breathe her last breath as she fell into a long slumber. She's gone... and there's nothing that Aaron could do now. He kissed her lips for the last time, and whispered "I love you" into her ears for the last time...

The Four Seasons of Love - Summer

Part 2: Summer - Hate that I Love You

Maybe that one thing that you're looking for
Is just in front of you all this time...

--

Wang Dong Cheng and Chen Jia Hua are sworn enemies. For her, he's an arrogant, egoistic freak. For him, she's a meanie brat and a show-off. He always pulls off her pigtails in kindergarten. She trips him when he passes by her in grade school. He always outshines her in singing competitions. She makes sure her grades are higher than his.

"What's with the competition with Da Dong?" Tian Fu Zen, Jia Hua's best friend once asked. “Fu Zen, hello? We basically hated each other since day 1!” Jia Hua answered in a matter-of-fact tone. “But why? Da Dong’s a nice guy, if you’ll only give him a chance…”
“Puh-leaze, Fu Zen. Being with that guy is the last thing I want to do. I won’t ever forgive him for bullying me when we were kids!”

Fu Zen just sighed and shook her head. Although she’s friends with both Da Dong and Jia Hua, there’s nothing she can do to make the two friends as well.

--

“Can you remind me again why you hate Jia Hua?” Tang Yu Zhe, Da Dong’s friend, asked one time while they were playing video games at the latter’s house. “Oh, man!” Da Dong groaned in frustration. “Why do you have to say the name of that brat? See what happened? I lost!” Yu Zhe just laughed at his friend. “You know, since I’m dating Fu Zen, I get to hang out with Jia Hua. She seems to be a nice girl…” Upon hearing that, Da Dong grabbed Yu Zhe by his collar and looked at him straight in the eyes. “Yu Zhe, my friend, don’t be fooled by that witch. She may look sweet and nice, but the truth is, she’s evil!”
“Da Dong, I’ve been dating Fu Zen for a year now. I’ve been hanging out with Jia Hua for a year, and I don’t see any reason why you should hate her.”

Da Dong let go of Yu Zhe and straightened up his clothes. “OK, Yu Zhe…” he said. “Let me tell you the reasons why I hate Jia Hua. First, we made me a fool in front of my crush, Lin Yi Chen, by pushing me into a mud pool…”

--

“Well Yeah, I did that” Jia Hua explained to Fu Zen as she took a bite from her sandwich. “But there’s a logical explanation for that.” Fu Zen gave her a curious look. “And that is?” she asked. “He threw an eraser at me. It hit my face.”

--

“She’s not my target, man! It’s that Ming Dao guy. Then she got in the way so the eraser hit her.” Da Dong explained to Yu Zhe. Yu Zhe just laughed at Da Dong as he tried to justify his actions. “Man, it must’ve hurt her that bad…” Yu Zhe said. “I know. I’ve apologized to her, but she pushed me down and I fell in a mud pool…”

--

“Then there was a time in middle school when he made booby traps in the hallway, and by the time I entered the classroom, I was so drenched.” Jia Hua said. “He did that?” Fu Zen asked. Jia Hua nodded her head. “He thinks of me as his guinea pig for his booby traps. He always does that.”

--

“Serves her right…” Da Dong said. “All the booby traps I made is especially for her.” He said as he munched his chips. “Ok… but what did Jia Hua did this time?” Yu Zhe asked. “Well first, she ruined my collage for home economics just because she thinks it’s a trash. Then, she encouraged Yi Chen to go out with Mike He. Then, she would “accidentally” trip me in front if Yi Chen. And she never lent me her notes during the whole week I was absent.” Da Dong explained. Yu Zhe just shook his head. “So for every wrong thing she did to you, you make a booby trap for her?” he asked. Da Dong smiled and nodded his head.

--

“First, his project is so horrible and he just leaves it lying around so I threw it. It was an honest mistake.” Jia Hua explained between bites. “And Yi Chen?”
“I didn’t know he have a huge crush on her. She was asking me if she should ask Mike He out, so I just gave her my humble opinion.”
“And your notes?”
“You know how neat I am with my things One time, I let him my notes and when he returned it to me, the pages are dirty.”

--

“Hey, did you guys even tried to have a truce?” Yu Zhe asked. Da Dong paused for a while and think. “Yeah, I guess in Junior high…” he said. “But then, she attacked me and hit me till I’m black and blue.”
“Maybe you did something that caused her to be mad at you again?”
Da Dong paused again and looked at Yu Zhe. He’s hesitating if he will tell Yu Zhe what he did to Jia Hua that time. “Da Dong?” Yu Zhe looked at him and smiled faintly. “Yes. I did something that I should have not done to her…”

--

Jia Hua paused as she remembered what Da Dong did in Junior High. “Jia Hua, is there something wrong?” Fu Zen asked. Jia Hua didn’t answer her. “I asked why did you have to hit him in Junior High?”
“He made a stupid bet with his friends…” Jia Hua finally answered. “His friends dared him, and they’ll give him NT$500 if he’ll be able to do it.”
“And the bet is?”
“To steal my first kiss…”

--

[Flashback]

Jia Hua was walking through the school’s hallway to go to the library when he met Da Dong. It’s been months since the last time they talked to each other, and that last time, they agreed to have a truce, and to mind each other’s business. “Hey, Hua…” he said, giving her a devilish smile. Jia Hua smirked at him. “As a reminder, we have an agreement to mind each other’s business, and not to talk to each other. Aren’t you forgetting that, egoistic freak?” she said. Da Dong acted like she didn’t hear her. He moved closer to her, and then held her by her shoulder. “Just. Shut. Up.” He said. Then, all of a sudden, he kissed her on the lips.

Jia Hua was surprised at what he did. Why the hell would he kiss her? Her eyes were wide open at that moment. She want to punch him, but as he kissed her, she felt so week. Then, Da Dong’s face moved away from her, then he smiled. “There.” He said. She was still speechless. “What? Never been kissed before?” he asked. Jia Hua lowered her head. She could feel her cheeks began to redden. “That… was… my… first kiss…” she said shyly. Da Dong was surprised at what she revealed. “Oh, great! I just stole her first kiss! What should I do?” he thought.

Then, she saw his two friends, Chen Yi and Hu Yu Wei running towards him. “Way to go Da Dong!” Chen Yi said, tapping his shoulder. Jia Hua gave him a startled look. Yu Wei took out a NT$500 bill from his pocket and handed it to Da Dong. “You won, Da Dong! It’s all yours!” Yu Wei said. Still startled, Jia Hua faced Da Dong and glared at him. “What the hell does this mean, Wang Dong Cheng???” she shouted. Da Dong was not able to answer her, instead, Chen Yi stepped up for him. “We had a dare with Da Dong. If he could kiss you, he gets 500 bucks.” Chen Yi explained.

Upon hearing this, Jia Hua got really furious. She could fee the steam building up her head. “Da Dong…” she shouted. Chen Yi, Yu Wei and Da Dong knows exactly what’s going to happen next. “Uh… I guess we better run for our lives?” Yu Wei asked. The two agreed, and they ran away from Jia Hua. But, on their way, Da Dong fell down, and Jia Hua was able to catch him. “Hua! No!” he pleaded. “You must know better that stealing a girl’s first kiss!” she shouted. And with that, she began to punch him.

{End of Flashback}

--

Saturday Night.

Fu Zen and Jia Hua went to their favorite bar. Outside the bar, they met Da Dong and Yu Zhe. “Here they are!” Yu Zhe said. As soon as the two girls arrived, Yu Zhe hugged his girlfriend and gave her a kiss. “Hi, Yu Zhe.” Jia Hua said with a smile. She then looked at Da Dong, who was standing next to him. “Hi. Da Dong.” She said blandly, then she rolled her eyes at him. “Hi, Fu Zen!” Da Dong said cheekily. “Hi. Jia Hua.” He said mockingly. Then, he stuck his tongue out at her.
“Wang Dong Cheng, stop being too childish.” Yu Zhe said. He put his arms around Fu Zen and smiled at the two, who were almost starting to fight. “Da Dong, why don’t you accompany Jia Hua while me and Yu Zhe check if we can already go inside the bar?” Fu Zen suggested. Before the two could react violently, the two love birs were already out of their sight.

“Look, Da Dong,” Jia Hua hissed at him. “Don’t ever try to ruin my night, or else you’ll really get it.” Da Dong smirked at her. “Actually, my dear Jia Hua, I should be the one who should warn you. Whenever you’re around me, something bad happened to me, so you better leave me alone ok?”
“Oh, really? Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around?”
“Of course, not! Didn’t you know your name is synonymous to bad luck?”
“And your name is synonymous to tragedy!”

In the middle of their mature conversation, Da Dong saw a familiar face entering the bar. It was Jia Hua’s boyfriend, Ruan Jiung Ting. But he’s not alone - he’s with his long time crush, Lin Yi Chen. He watched them, as Ah Jing kissed Yi Chen on the lips while waiting for their turn to get inside the bar, He felt as if someone threw cold water at him, and he could feel his face became pale.

“What now, Wang Dong Cheng? Can’t think of any come backs?” Jia Hua said. Da Dong paused, then he looked at her. “Hua, no matter what happen, don’t look back…” he said in a sympathetic tone. Jia Hua gave him a quizzical look. “Why?” she asked. Then she looked back, only to find her boyfriend flirting with another girl. Not just any other girl, it was her long-time friend. “Why are you so stubborn?! I told you not to look back!” Da dong shouted at her. He could feel how upset she is, because he also feels the same. Jia Hua didn’t answer him. Instead, he heard her muffled cry. “Jia Hua? Jia Hua… look, I’m sorry…” he said as he put his hand on her shoulder. He could sense that she could breajdiwb anytime, or she might go to her boyfriend and confront him, so he decided to get her out of that place.

--

“You can laugh at me now…” Jia Hua said between sobs. They’re inside Da Dong’s car, and Da Dong just drove away from the bar. All through out, He was listening to Jia Hua’s cry. “Ha Ha Ha. There. I laughed.” He said monotonously. After a few years, he was able to see Jia hua cry again. He’s used to seeing her cry when they were kids, but it was because he bullies her or he did something terrible to her. Now, he’s seeing her cry because of some jerk who two-timed her with her friend. “Hua, you’re not the only one upset with that scene. I have just seen the girl I love kiss with another guy…” he said in a low voice. “But there’s a difference – Ah Jing’s my boyfriend and Chen Chen’s just your crush…”
“But I am courting her, I thought I have a chance with her until… until tonight…”

Da Dong took out his hanky, and wiped Jia Hua’s tears. “Mao Mao, you don’t have to cry over that guy. Besides, you deserve someone better…” he said. Jia Hua was surprised when Da Dong called her Mao Mao. It was her nickname as a kid. “Wow… I can’t believe you still remember my nickname, Da Dong…” she said as she smiled at him. “Of course. I’ve known you all my life. I still remember everything about you even though we’re not in good terms before.” He said. Jia Hua put her head on his shoulder, and hugged his arm. “Thank you for being here with me, Da Don…” She said. Da Dong smiled as she caressed her head. “Now that you’re done crying, it’s my turn to breakdown.”

--

Days passed by and Jia Hua and Da Dong became much closer, Theor fights had lessended, and they started to enjoy each other’s company. Their friends, especially Yu Zhe and Fu Zen, were happy about this, because they don’t have t pull them away from each other whenever they clash.

“Hey Mao Mao!” Da Dong called one afternoon whn he spotted her at the University’s cafeteria. Jia Hua was with Fu Zen and Chen Yi Ru, who’s one of their friends. Jia Hua smiled at him. Da Dong was with Yu Zhen and Zhang Shao Han (another friend) that time. “Hey Mao Mao, there’s a new ice cream parlor near the uni. Want to go there later/” Da Dong asked as he sat beside her. “Sure, no prob! You know how much I love ice cream!” she said as she smiled sweetly as him, :I know that’s why I asked you to go with me there. I’ll see after class, ok?”

After that, Da Dong and his company left. “OK. Since when did Da Dong start calling you Mao Mao? Fu Zen probed as soon as Da Dong’s out of sight. “Since like we were kids?” Jia Hua answered. Yi Ru just gave her a devilish smile after hearing her answer. “Yeah, right! Isn’t it a little suspicious that from sworn enemies, you became like the best of friends?” he said. Jia Hua gave Yi Ru dagger looks. “Don’t start analyzing, Mr. Psych Major!” she threatened. Fu Zen looked at Yi Ru and smiled. “Are you insinuating something, Ru Ge?” she asked. Yi Ru looked at Fu Zen and smiled. “Maybe the reason why they hated each other before is because they can’t admit to themselves that they’re attracted to each other.” He explained. Then, Yi Ru looked at Jia Hua. “Haven’t you heard of the saying ‘The more you hate, the more you love’?”

--

“Me? Like like her?” Da Dong asked in a bewildered tone. Shao Han nodded her head. Da Dong let out a nervous laugh and shook his head. “No way! She’s just,,, you know.. Mao Mao. She’s a childhood friend whom I hated before, and got close with recently. That’s it!” he explained. “Well, maybe for you she’s just that. But we’re seeing things differently, expecially with the way you treat her.” Shao Han said. Yu Zhe nodded his head in agreement. “Hey, she just broke up with that jerk, who by the way is now dating the girl of my dreams. That’s the reason why we became friends.” Da dong reasoned out. Shao Han smiled at Da Dong. “Why? Don’t tell me there was never a time you got attracted to her?” She asked. Da Dong paused, not knowing what to reason out, because he realized that what Shao Han’s telling him now, is exactly true.

--

“Yes, I did…” he told himself. “That’s why I like bullying her, I love it when she’s mad… I love the attention she gives me…”

--
“I love him?” Jia Hua thought. “I guess I am…” She remembered the real reason why she hated him – it’s because their friends tease them to each other. She also remembered being too jealous when she found out Da Dong have a crush on Chen Chen, that’s why she did everything so that he would look like a fool in front of him, and eventually telling Chen Chen to go out with Mike He. And the first time Da Dong kissed her, she was crushed when she found out he did that because of a dare.

--

“Maybe that’s why I cared for her…” Da Dong thought. He swore before that he’s the only person who have the right to torture Jia Hua and make her cry. That’s why when he saw Jian Tian with Yi Chen at the bar, he was more upset for her that he is for himself. That night that he saw her cry, he told himself that he will never make her cry again.

That time, he was her shoulder to cry on.

And he loved that feeling – that feeling that she needs him.

--

They found themselves alone at the hallway that afternoon. “Hey…” Jia Hua greeted. Da Dong smiled faintly at her. “Hey….”

Silence.

“You know what…” Da Dong began. “We have the craziest friends…” Jia Hua gave him a startled look. “Why?”
“Well, Shao Han thought that I like you…”
“You don’t like me?”

Da Dong looked at her, and he could see the disappointment in her eyes. “I like you, Mao Mao…” he said. But all he wanted to say is that he loves her. Da Dong stared at her for the longest time. “I really do…” he said in a low voice. Jia Hua found herself looking into his brown eyes. “You never looked at me like this…” she muttered. “I… I can’t help it…”

Slowly, he went closer to her. He was too close, that Jia Hua could almost hear his heart beat. “Maybe, the reason why I hated you before is because… I can’t admit to myself that I love you…” Da Dong said. Then, he cupped her chin, and kissed her lips for a long time. After he kissed her, Jia Hua smiled at him. “And I love you too, Da Dong…” she said.

The Four Seasons of Love - Spring

Part 1: Spring - "For you in full bloom"

She loved him since the first spring she met him,
But the only thing she could do is watch him marry the girl he loves...

--

The flowers started to bloom today. It was the first day of spring, and spring has always been Calvin's favorite season. I have known him long enough to know every details about him.

He said a lot of good things happen to him every spring. It was that season when my family moved to the house next to his. Since then, we became the best of friends. It was also spring when he met Genie, the girl who, acording to him, he wants to spend the rest of his life with. I knew that they would come to that, but I never thought it would be this soon.

"I'm getting maried." He said one lazy afternoon, while we were having coffee at my place. Upon hearing that, I almost spit out the coffee that's in my mouth. "What?! That soon?" I asked. Calvin smiled and nodded his head. I was surprised at that news since Calvin and Genie have only been dating for 6 months. I gave him suspicious looks, as I got closer to his face. "Calvin Chen Yi Ru, did you got Genie pregnant?"
"Of course not!"
"Then why do you guys have to get married this soon?"

Calvin looked at me and smiled. "You've never been in love before, Christine?" he asked. I didn't answer him. I just lowered my head and looked at my coffee cup. Of course, I have been in love, I want to say. I want to tell him I've been in love with him since we were kids... since the first spring I met him... but I just don't have the guts to tell him that.

"You know that quote from 'When Harry met Sally'? Harry said, when you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. I love Genie, and I can't wait to be with her forever..." I nodded my head, and with that, I gave Calvin my blessings.

--

The day has finally arrived. Although it hurts to see the man I love getting married to another, I have to put on a smile to show everyone that I support him. There have been nights that I cried because of him, but I realized that when you love someone, you should let them find their happiness. Calvin's happiness is Genie, and I have to be happy for him this day.

He looked very dahing in his tuxedo. It was then that I realized that he has became a man - not that little boy I used to know.I walked down the aisle and I smiled at me. He smiled back, but at the end of the aisle, I have to step aside to give way to the bride.

Everything was perfect on Calvin's wedding day. The ceremony went smoothly until...

"Calvin Chen, do you take Genie Zhou as your lwfully wedded wife, and be with her for better or worse, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, till death do you part?" the priest asked. I was thinking he would answer immediately, but there was a dead silence from him. After a while, he looked at Genie and spoke. "I... I'm sorry..." he said. "I... I can't do this Genie," then he turned his back and walked away, leaving his devastated bride behind.

--

I followed him outside the church, and found him near the park not far away from the church. "Calvin..." I called. He looked up at me and smiled faintly. I walked towards him, and sat beside him. "I know I'm a jerk..." he started. "But you see, I just realized one thing... I have always been in love with Genie, I know, but last night, I tried to picture myself with her, and it felt so wrong. The moment you walked down the aisle, I closed my eyes and I see myself being with you... and you know what, it felt so right. But when I opened my eyes, reality hits me and I realized I'm marrying Genie..." I don't know if Calvin's joking or not, but at the back of my mind, I wish he's not. I know it's wrong for me to think that way, especially when Genie's so devastated about what happened. "Come on, Calvin." I said as I pulled his hand. "We can still go back. You're just nervous and jittery - "
"No, I can't Christine..."
"Calvin, Genie's waiting for you..."

He looked up t me. There's something in the way he looked that made me feel jittery. "Christine, I can't marry Genie because I realized that I still love you." He said. I was speechless. I never thought that Calvin feels the same way for me, but when did he start loving me? "I loved you since the day I first saw you, but I'm scared to admit that to you and to myself because I'm scared everything about us will change. But now, I'm not scared anymore because it's you I want to be with forever..."

My heart was beating faster upon hearing that. I have always dreamed that Calvin would tell me he loves me... who would've thought it would happen on his wedding day? I don't want to let this chance pass me by, so I decided to tell him what's in my heart. "Calvin... I love you too..."

--

The flowers bloomed, and once again, it's springtime. I am walking down the aisle in my long white gown. This time, I don't have to give way to another girl. I see Calvin by the altar. He is smiling and crying at the same time, as he patiently waited for me.I have never seen him more handsome than today. I have never seen him this way before.

Today is the start of our lives togehter. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him, and grow old beside him. When the priest asked him if he'll take me as his wife, we looked at me lovingly and smiled, then he said. "I do..."

Chocolate

Period. No Erase.

Tamang tama, Valentines day yun. Pwede!

Wedding Picture

She stared outside the window. She watched as the rain started to fall from the sky. Maybe, heaven is on her side right now. As the rain started to pour, tears began to fell from her eyes. She looked back and saw their wedding picture hanging on the bare wall. She stared at it for a long time, she stared at Calvin's face. She could understand why he was not smiling in that picture... on that special day. The day they got married is the day she took him away from the girl he really loved. It was the day she have trapped him into a loveless marriage.

She reached for his face, and caressed it. "I'm sorry..." she whispered. "I'm sorry for everything..." If only that night didn't happen... If only she was satisfied with just being his friend... if only she have not love him... if only she have not carried his child, then maybe, just maybe, she will not be feeling miserable. She would not have felt this kind of pain, and she would have not hurt the man she loves the most.

She turned to the side table, and stared at the the white envelope lying on it. She smiled, then she wiped her tears. It was a hard decision for her, to turn her back from everything that she have always dreamed of. But if this means his happiness, then she's ready to take the risk. She have to let him go... She have the let him have his happiness, after all, that one thing that binds them together is now gone - his child. She took off the ring from her finger and placed it on top of the papers. It's time to let go...

She took took her luggage and began to walk. As she took a step, she realized it's hard to walk away from everything. When she reached for the door, she realized it's harder to let go... to give up... but she was left with no choice but to do this, so that she could save whatever it left of with their friendship... at least...

She took a deep breath and walked out of the room. She decided to walk out of his life. She knew one day he will thank her for making this decision... even though it's breaking her heart. One day, she will learn to move on... and one day she know she will find her happiness...

--

How are you? Are your nights as long as mine?
Do you take the love I give you and wear it well on your hand?

The lonely music continued to play on his car stereo. He was exhausted from work, and as he reached home, all he saw is a darkness. He got out of the car and walked towards the front door and opened it. Still, total darkness... He's been living this way for 6 months... since the day Genie decided to go... since the divorce...

They both thought this is a good idea... for her and for him... but mostly for him, so that he and Angela could finally be together. But he was wrong, she was wrong...

He walked to his room only to find the their old wedding picture hanging on the bare wall. He looked up at it, and stared into her smiling face. That's what Calvin misses about Genie- how everything seemed to light up when she smiles. How all of his problems seems to go away whenever he opens up to her... but then that fateful night happened that changed everything about their friendship.

If only he had not drowned himself from too much alcohol...
If only Angela didn't leave him to pursue her dreams...
If only Genie was not there to comfort him...

If only he might not have mistaken her for Angela and made love to her that night...

He could still remember the day Genie told him that she's carrying their child. He closed his eyes for the longest time, finally accepting the fact that Angela's gone and he have to take his responsibility for his actions. When he opened his eyes, he finally decided to marry her. He thought that by doing this, he could reciprocate her love for him, and he could be able to forget Angela. But he was wrong...

Angela came back after he and Genie got married. He was confused. He tried his best to love his best friend, but it seems that nobody could replace Angela in his heart, not even his wife...

"Be strong," I frequently say to the person in the mirror.
Although said, lonely and missing someone is like a punishment

A secret affair happened between him and Angela. He knows it would break Genie's heart, but he still did it. Because he loved Angela more than anything else. Because he thought she is his happiness.

Because he is selfish.

Then, the day came and Genie found out about hem. The day she found out about his secret affair was the same day that she had a miscarriage. He knew how upset Genie was... and it was all his fault that he lost their child. It was his fault that he broke her heart.

Thinking of your gentleness, thinking of your appearance, I can't let go...

Soon after Genie came out of the hospital, she left him. She left him without even saying goodbye. That day, all he found was her wedding ring on the side table, together with the divorce papers that she have previously signed. She let him go... so that he could be happy and be with Angela. She never came back since then... At that moment he realized Genie's finally out of his life forever...

Already said goodbye, our respective soaring has grown up
Tightly holding onto love, letting it go leaves me troubled

Calvin reached for the drawer, and took her wedding ring. Maybe he did loved her after all, but he didn't want to admit it. Because all that mattered to him before was Angela, and only Angela. Because he didn't want their friendship to change.

He knew right from the start how Genie feels for him, and he was a bastard to take advantage of it. God knows, he loved her the best way he could... and that's the only thing he could give to her...

But the irony of it all, though Genie was willing to sacrifice for him, Calvin never signed the divorce papers.

Which desire to I want to fulfill?
Leaving you, that's silly, can I regret?

He closed his eyes, and tears began to fall. If only he had appreciated Genie more, then maybe she's still with him. If only he acknowledged what he feels for her, then maybe she never left. If only he was not selfish, then maybe his child would have not died...if only he could tell Genie now how much he loves her...

There are a lot of what-if's in his mind... and it's too late now. Genie's gone... and he can't let go...

Choices

"In life, there are two paths to take... one is easy, and it's only reward is that it's easy..."

"Final call for Flight 125 going to Munich"

Ella stood up from her chair, and took her luggage. For her, there's no turning back now. She have made her decision, and she's sticking to it. She have always wanted an easy way out, and this is the only way she can escape her heartache. She gripped onto the handle of her bag, and began to walk slowly. She have always thought Chun would come, and stop her from leaving, but it's clear to her that he have already made his choice.

She hated complications in her life. That's why she's here right now at the airport. She's running away from another complication in her life. And that is being in love with her best friend. She knows where she stands in Chun's life. She knows he could only love her as his friend, and as his sister. But somehow, she thought Chun would see her in a different light, but then things got rather complicated, as he's already engaged to Ariel. Well, it's actually not Chun's decision, but his parents' decision. She can still remember the day he first saw Ariel. She was with him that time when his parents introduced them to each other. By the way Chun looked at Ariel, it's obvious that he was smitten by her beauty. Since then, things have changed between them. He rarely spend time with her, like he used to. He's always with Ariel, preparing for their wedding.

Today was supposed to be a special day for Chun, but instead of being the Maid of Honor, she chose to leave for Munich. "It's better this way..." she thought. "At least I won't see the man I love getting married to another girl..." But there was something holding her back. She tried to step forward, but something's keeping her from boarding the plane. Is it really the right choice to leave Chun, without even telling him how she feels? That she have loved him since they were kids? Is it the right moment to be coward, and just runaway from everything, including their friendship? She stopped walking, and closed her eyes... she knows she will regret it later if she leaves, and she knows will really regret it if she never tell Chun how much she loves him.

Then, she made her decision. She turned around, and headed to the airport's exit. She still have time to talk to him, and tell him everything before it's too late. She knows this is a crazy idea, and things will eventually change between them. Eventually, she came to her senses and took the risk. "It's now or never..." she thought as she got inside the cab.

--

She rushed inside the church only to find it empty. There were no decorations inside. Was Ella too late? Did the wedding ceremonies started earlier than expected? She could feel her heart beat faster, as she looked around the church. "Chun..." she said in a low voice.

"Finally, you came..." she heard a familiar voice said. She turned around, and saw Chun walking up to her. He was not wearing the tuxedo he picked out for him on this special day. "Chun... I... I thought... What happened? Where's everybody? Where's Ariel?" she asked. Chun just smiled at her. "Well, everybody's not here because we have to cancel the wedding at the last minute..." he explained. Ella just gave her a startled look. "But... but why?"
"Because the bride's supposed to leave for Munich half an hour ago... leaving his poor groom behind..."

This time, it got Ella really confused. Did Ariel also left for Munich? "It was a bad idea for my parents to set me up with Ariel, because things have backfired..." he said. "What... what do you mean? Which backfired?"
"Everything's a set up. My parents set me up for Ariel so that you would get jealous, and that you'll eventually tell me how you feel towards me. I played my part, hoping it will work out. But you decided to go to Munich and leave me. That's why there's no wedding, simply because you left me." Chun expained. Ella was surprised upon hearing that. She have knows his parents to be kinda playful, but she never thought they would put up a "prank" so that she and Chun can be together. "They what?"
"I said, my parents set this up. But you never fell for it, so we have to cancel the wedding because I didn't have a bride..."
"But... but what about Ariel?"
"She's actress. Of course she acted well, right? And besides, you're the only person that got the wedding invitation with Ariel's name on it."

Ella could feel her face turning red with anger. All the while, she thought Chun's really in love with Ariel, and all the while, she thought Chun will marry her. But it turns out that everything's not real. Everything is only a set-up. "Wu Chun! How the hell can you do this to me! I'm you're best friend!" she shouted at him. Chun just laughed at her, as she vents out her anger. "I'm sorry, Ella. I know it was a bad idea, and I shouldn't have been part of it..." he said. He came up to her, and held her cheeks. "I should've told you right from the start how I felt... and I should've told you directly so that things wouldn't turn out this way. I love you Ella Chen..." he said. Ella looked up to him and smiled. "Well... what if I really left and boarded the plane?"
"I know you wouldn't do that..."
"How sure are you?"
"I know... I just know. I have known you since we were kids, and I know you wouldn't leave me behind..."

Ella smiled at him. She know she have made the right decision this time. Maybe if she left, she wouldn't know the truth. "And it's all worth it..." she thought. She reached up to Chun, and kissed him on his lips. "I love you too, Chun Wu..." she said. Then, Chun broke away from her. He took her luggage and pulled her out of the church. "Hey!" Ella shouted at him, and gave him a startled look again. Chun looked back and gave her a playful smile. "I said the wedding's canceled simply because there's no bride, but now that the bride's here, we can start the wedding ceremony, right?"

THE END
