Always and Forever - Prologue

Prologue:



“Why are you so slow!” Selina shouted at Calvin as she looked back at him. Calvin, who was running after her, stopped for a while and tried to catch his breath. “Why are you so fast?” he shouted at her. Selina just giggled, and then began to ran from him again. Calvin sighed and shook his head as he watched her run again. He stood up, and began to ran after her. “Wait for me!” he shouted at her. He found himself in a rose garden. He looked around the place, trying to search for Selina. “Selina! Where are you?” he shouted. “Come and find me, Calvin Chen!” he heard her shout. Calvin laughed to himself as he walked through the cobbled path of the garden. He did not take his eyes off the flowers, thinking Selina would come out of her hiding place to surprise him, just like before. “Selina!” he shouted again. “Come out now...” he shouted again.

He looked back, and saw the bush shaking. He smiled to himself as he tiptoed towards that bush. He peeked at the bush, and saw Selina trying her best to hide from him. “Gotcha!” he shouted at him. As Selina stood up, she put her hand on her waist and gave Calvin a pout. “Aiyo... you always catch me whenever I'm hiding from you!” she said. Calvin just laughed at her. “Of course. I'm good, am I?” he said proudly. Selina laughed at him. Calvin took her hand, and the pulled her towards him, and hugged her tight. “I will find you no matter what. You know that, Selina Ren...” he whispered to her ears. Selina giggled upon hearing what he said. “Even if I hide from you in a far away place?” she asked. Calvin smiled and nodded his head. “No matter where you are, I will find you. And besides, I know you love me too much, that you can't stand not being by my side, am I right?” he said. Selina simply rolled her eyes at him. “As if!” she said. “Wei? Does that mean, you don't love me?” he asked. Selina smiled at him, and then gave him a kiss on the cheek. “I love you, Calvin Chen.” she said. Calvin kissed her on the cheek, and then smiled at him. “I love you too, Selina Ren. My love for you is like an ocean... you can see the beginning but not the end.” he said. Then, Selina laughed, much to his confusion. “What?” he asked. “That's the corniest line I've ever heard!” she said. Then, Calvin pinched her nose. “But that's true. I love you. You are my first love, and you will be my last love.” he said. “So, you're saying that you will never ever leave me?” she asked. Calvin nodded his head. “You will never ever look at other girls, aside from your mom, you sister, your cousins, and me?” she asked again. “I won't ever look at any other girls except for you.” he said. Selina tightened his hug, and rested her head on his chest. “You promise to love me forever and ever?” she asked. “I love you forever and ever and ever and ever and ever!” Calvin shouted.

Selina looked up at him, and smiled. Calvin looked at her lovingly, and stared into her almond brown eyes. He felt like being lost into her eyes, and he have always loved that feeling of being lost in her eyes. “I love you. I'll always do...” he whispered to her. “I love you too...” she said in a low voice. Calvin leaned down to her, and gave her a long and loving kiss on the lips.

“Brothers and sisters, we are gathered here to say our last farewell to Selina Ren, a loving daughter, and a dear friend...”

Calvin walked towards her coffin, and stared into Selina's smiling face. She was heartbreakingly beautiful with that smile on her face. It was the same smile that made him fall in love with her. She is in her deep slumber, and now matter what he does, he know that she will never wake up again. After months of battling with cancer, Selina was finally gone. It was that winter night when the angels took the girl he love away from him. “Selina...” he whispered as he placed a white rose on her coffin. “Why did you have to leave me? You promised me you'll be with me forever and ever, but you left me all alone...” he said. He closed his eyes, and felt a tear roll down his cheeks. “How am I going to live without you. You are my life, Selina... you are the very reason why I breathe... why did you have to go?” he said as he cried.

As he watched her coffin being lowered on the ground, tears couldn't help but fall from his eyes. He took another white rose, and threw it on her grave. The weather seemed to be on his side, as it began to snow. He remained standing as he watched her being buried. The people around him have slowly gone, and Calvin was left alone by her grave. Soon, the snow stopped falling, and her grave was covered in white. “Selina...” he whispered as he wiped the tears from his eyes. “I will keep my promise to you. You will be my first love, and my last love... you'll be the only woman I will love for the rest of my life. No one can ever replace you in my life, and I know I will never love again because you took my heart with you...” he said in a low voice.

He turned his back, and began to walk away from her grave. Starting today, he have to learn to live his life alone...
