About This Blog

This is where I post my original works - stories, poems, proses, essays, etcetera. I own everything that's written here. If you want to post my works somewhere, please give credit to me.

Original stories are stories whose characters came from my mind. I own the character for those posts that have this tag.

Fan fic are my stories which stars my favorite Asian stars/anime characters/drama characters. I only own the stories, but not the characters (I do wish I own Calvin Chen and the rest of Fahrenheit... lol)

Roses are my short proses/stories. it may be written in first person's view or thrid person's view. It's just a narrative prose.

One-shots are my series of stories that are one chapter long. These are also tag as roses.

Actually, I was planning to make 25 short stories before my 25th birthday (which have already passed) and unfortunately, I wasn't too successful in making 25 short stories. I was panning to call it 25 roses, hence the tag roses here in my blog.

Anyways, if you want to read just one story, click on the title below and then start reading from below.

Happy Reading!

P.S.

I'm trying to figure out how I could highlight the entries here and copy, but I am not that knowledgaeble with HTML. So, while I'm trying to figure things out, if anyone wanted a soft copy of the stories here for reading purposes only, you can shoot me an email at tamed_soul@hotmail.com

My Two Love, My True Love - Chapter 37

Chapter 37 – Maybe It's You

Maybe It's you, I'm thinking of
Who'll mend this broken heart of mine
It's you, I'm wishing for
Who'll be with me tonight
Someone to hold, someone to cry
Someone who'll make me feel all right
Maybe it's you all my life...

--

Chun gave Ariel a confused look. He have never seen Ariel this serious before. “What is it that you want to say?” he asked. Ariel looked away from him, and then toyed with her necklace. “Chun... do... do you really want to be married to me?” she asked. Chun let out a nervous laugh. “Of course, Ariel. I want to marry you...” he said. Ariel was silent upon hearing his answer. “But I don't think this is a good idea... I don't think I want to marry you anymore...” she thought sadly. “Is there something wrong, Ariel?” Chun asked. Ariel looked up at him, and shook her head. “Nothing's wrong.” she answered. She let out a sweet smile at him again. “Maybe I'm just jittery and nervous... I can't believe this is happening to us. I can't believe we're finally getting married.” she said.

Chun leaned down towards her, and embraced her. “We are getting married, Ariel. You will become my wife soon...” he said to her. He smiled at her, and then gave her a kiss on the cheek. Then, he took her hand, and held it. “Come one, Ariel. Everyone is waiting for us downstairs. They can't wait to see the future Mrs. Chun Yan-Wu.” Chun said. Ariel stood up from her seat, and held on to Chun's arms. “Chun, there's something else I want to ask you...” she said. Chun paused, and looked at her. “Your mom's engagement ring. You told me you'll give it to me before we get married... where is it?”

--

Ella toyed with the ring on her finger. She stared at it for a long time, and remembered the time Chun gave it to her. When he gave her that ring, he made a promise before God that he will love her for the rest of his life. “I'm giving you this ring as my promise to you... that no matter what happens, my heart will always belong to you...” she remembered Chun say. Sometimes she wondered, what could have happened if she became selfish, and took Chun away from Ariel? She wondered, what could have happened if she waited till Chun made things right for the two of them? Maybe both them would have not suffered this way. Maybe their hearts would have not broken. But she knew that even if they avoid breaking each other's heart, they will break Ariel's heart. And that's the reason why she ended their relationship.

“You've been staring at your ring for a long time, Ella...” She looked up, and saw Arron behind her. He sat beside her, and placed a glass of wine in front of her. “You're not getting bored with the party, right?” he asked worriedly. She smiled at him, and shook her head. “Ella, can I ask you something?” he said. “Sure... what is it?” she said. Arron took her hand, and looked closely at the ring on her finger. “This ring looks familiar. It looked exactly like mom's engagement ring. Did Chun gave you this ring?” he asked. Ella looked down at the ring on her finger, and then she nodded her head. “Chun gave this to me...” she said.

Arron let go of her hand. “He must really love her...” he thought. He remembered before that when their mom gave her ring to Chun, he made him promise that he will only give it to the girl who truly loves. He thought he would give it to Ariel, but then Chun gave it to Ella. “I guess my brother already told you the story behind the ring?” he asked again. Ella nodded her head again. “He said your mom told him that he will give the ring to the one he loves...” she replied. Arron looked at her for a long time. “Ella... are you sure you're willing to give up my brother for Ariel?” he asked.

Ella looked away from him. “The fact that he gave you this ring, it means that Chun loves you so much. All this time, I thought he have given it to Ariel, but it's on your finger now. My brother truly loves you Ella. Are you sure you're willing to let him go?” he asked again. “It's over between us, Arron. You know that. He's marrying Ariel... and that's how it's supposed to be.” she said. Arron let out a sigh, and just shook his head in dismay. Ella looked down on her finger again, and then took the ring out of her finger. “Arron...” she called. Arron looked back at him. She took her hand, and placed the ring on his palm. “When I'm gone... give this ring to your brother. Tell him that I don't deserve this, but his wife does. Tell him that the past year is the best time of my life. Tell him that I guess this is where our story ends, and that I'm sorry that I can't be with him...” she said. Arron looked at Ella, and then he closed his palm. “Ella, you don't have to do this...” he said. Ella shook her head. “I'm leaving soon, Arron. As soon as I leave Taipei, I'm going to start a new life. I'm going to start a life without him, and he'll be starting his own too. It's better that way... that I don't have anything that would remind me of him, except for our memories.” she said.

Arron frowned at her. “What about me? What about our friendship? Are you going to forget me just because of my brother?” he asked. “You will always have this special place in my heart, Arron. You will be my first love.” she said. Arron took her hand, and held it. He looked up at her, and stared into her eyes. “Then, can I be your last love as well?”

--

“May we have your attention please...” Jonas said over the microphone. Everyone fell silent, and eyed on the stage where Jonas is standing. “We would like to thank you all for coming tonight. Tonight is very special, not only to the Wu and Lin family, but also to these two people who celebrates their love tonight. After years of anticipating, finally, my son, Chun Yan-Wu and Ariel Lin will be getting married.” he said. With that, Chun and Ariel walked up to the stage to join Jonas, and Ariel's father, Francis. Then, Francis took the mic from Jonas and made a little speech.

“I would like to propose a toast for Chun and Ariel. May they always be happy and be in love for the rest of their lives.” Francis said as he raised his glass. “And may they give us little bundle of joys in the future.” he added. Everyone let out a laugh at what he said. After the made a toast, the couple kissed, and everyone clapped their hands.

Ella stood at the back of the crowd, and before she could see Chun kiss Ariel, she decided to walk away. Arron, who was standing beside her, followed her. “Ella!” he called as he followed her. Before she knew it, they were at the isolated part of the garden. Ella paused, then she looked back at Arron. “I'm sorry that you have to go through this... this charade...” he said as he walked towards her. Ella lowered her head, fighting back the tears forming from her eyes. “I wish I could do something for you...” he continued. Ella looked up at him, and forced a smile on her face. “I'll be OK, Arron. I guess I have to get used to it...” she said. Arron sighed, and shook his head. “Ella...” he whispered. “Look at you, Arron... you're also feeling the same way, right? But you have to see the girl you love with your brother...” she said. Arron shook his head again. He walked up to him, and then put his hands on her shoulder. “No, you're wrong, Ella...”

He cupped her cheeks with his two hands, and looked at her into her eyes. “I can't bear seeing the girl I love being hurt by my brother. I can't bear seeing you like this, El.” he said. Ella turned away from him. She knew where this conversation is going to again. “Arron, we talked about this. You know that I can't give you that chance. Arron, you can't lie to yourself. You are in love with Ariel. You don't love me.” she said. “Then, just give me a chance.” he said. “Give me a chance, Ella... I'll prove to you that I'm worthy of you. I'll never hurt you like Chun did. Give us a chance, and help me forget about Ariel. Ella... please love me again. It doesn't matter how long it will take... just love me again. I can help you through this... don't shut me out of your life like what you're doing to my brother.” he said. He reached for his hand, and held it tight. “Ella, you are important to me. You're the only friend I have. If you leave me, then I'll go crazy. Please...” he pleaded.

She looked up at him, and she could see him on the verge of tears. She doesn't want to leave Arron this way, but she can't turn back now. She will be leaving Taipei soon and start a new life. Maybe it was a selfish decision of hers to leave without even considering the feelings of the people around her, especially Arron who is feeling the same pain as she does. “I'm leaving on the day of your brother's wedding.” she said. “If you want to be with me, then I'll wait for you. We can start a new life in Canada... just the two of us, Arron. And maybe, just maybe, I can learn to love you again. I will wait for you, Arron...” she said. Arron smiled at her, and nodded his head. “I'll come to you as soon as the wedding is over. We'll start a new life together. I promise you will not regret choosing me, Ella...” he said. “But you have to do me one last thing, Arron.” Ella said. Arron gave her a confused look. “If you will leave for good, then you have to tell how you feel for Ariel. You have to tell her that you love her. That's my only condition for you. You have to promise me that...” she said.

Arron was surprised at what he said. It's hard on his part to do what Ella asked him to do, but then he have to do it, to end everything. So that he could start a new life with Ella without any regret, and maybe this is what Ella wants him to do. “I promise you, Ella. And after this, I will love you with all my heart.” he said. He then took Ella into his embrace, and kissed her on the forehead.

What he didn't know was Chun walked up to them as soon as he embraced Ella. He could feel his heart breaking upon seeing the girl he loves in the arms of his own brother. “I guess this is really the end for the two of us. You have already choses Arron, and there's nothing I can do but let you be with him...” he thought sadly. He turned his back on him, and from afar, he could see his wife-to-be smiling happily at their guests. “I guess this is my fate... to be with Ariel, and for Ella to be with Arron. I hope one day... we can be happy with the people we chose to spend the rest of our lives with...” he thought. He looked up at the night sky, and he saw a shooting star. He closed his eyes, and made a wish, and he wished the someday, he could be with Ella once again.

--

Two days before the wedding...

Ariel heard a soft knock on the door. She stood up from her chair, and opened it. She saw Arron standing outside her room. “Oh, Arron... what's up?” she said as she smiled at him. “Hey, Ariel. Can we go out?” he asked. Ariel nodded her head, and then got out of her room.

Arron took Ariel to the nearby park, where they used to play as kids. “So, why did you take me here, Arron?” Ariel asked. Arron smiled shyly at her. “Well, I want to reminisce our childhood memories. Besides, it's been a while since we last came here.” he said. “Thanks for taking me out, Arron. You don't know how pressured I feel with the wedding, and everything...” she said. They walked towards the swing and Ariel sat on it. Arron gave her a confused look. “You? Pressured?” he asked. Ariel nodded her head. “It's like all my life, everyone have been planning our wedding, and now the time have come. I'm getting married to Chun... and I feel so pressured about it...” she said sadly. “You're not having second thoughts about marrying my brother, don't you?” he asked. Ariel looked up at him, and smiled. “Do you really want to know, Arron?” she asked. Arron nodded his head. “I am having second thoughts about marrying him...” she said.

Arron was surprised at what she said. He sat at the swing next to hers, and looked at her. “Why?” he asked. “I know all my life, this is what I'm supposed to do – be the wife of Wu Jian Ling's grandson. I've readied myself for it, but since I went abroad to study, I realized that there's more to life than getting tied down. There are still a lot of things I want to experience... places I want to go... food I want to eat... but then I've been putting this thing off for a long time so I decided that it's about time I marry your brother.” she said. She looked at him, and stared into his face. “And besides... you have Ella...” she thought. “I guess ge will understand... I don't think he will just let you stay inside the mansion and wait for him like any dutiful wife. Maybe the two of you can talk things through...” he said. Ariel smiled, and shook his head. “There's no need to talk to your brother. I've been a wanderer for how many years. I guess it's about time for me to settle down, have kids, and be a good wife.” she said.

Ariel looked at him, and smiled. “I heard you'll be going with Ella to Canada after the wedding...” she said. Arron nodded his head. “I'm fixing my papers. As soon as everything is settled, I'll follow her in Canada.” he said Ariel looked away from him, her smile slowly fading from her face. “I guess you really love her... you even decided to follow her and to live with her in another country. Ella is a very lucky girl...” she said. “This isn't the first time I did that.” Arron said. Ariel looked back at him, confused with what he said. “What do you mean?” she asked.

He took a deep breath. It's about time that he tell how he feels for Ariel, after all, it's Ella's condition for letting him go with her in Canada. “This isn't the first time I followed a girl to a foreign country...” he said. Then, he looked at her. He gazed into her eyes, and began to speak again. “I followed my first love in another country. I lived with her for a year. And it's the happiest moment of my life...” he said. Ariel was confused at what he said. “I didn't know about that...” she said. “You know, Ariel. I was with you in the US, remember?” he said. Ariel could feel her heart beating fast after hearing what Arron said. She never expected their conversation would end this way. Then, Arron took her hand, and looked into her eyes.

“There's something I want to tell you, Ariel. And I have to say it now, or I will never have this chance again.” he began. Ariel looked at him, waiting for him to speak. “Ariel, I love you. I've been in love with you since we were kids... but I didn't have the courage to tell you that because of Chun. I know you love Chun, and you know how our relationship was before. I've been secretly in love with you all this time... and it was breaking my heart whenever I see you with him. There's never a day I didn't wish I am Chun... because I want to feel what it's like to be loved by you.” he said. Ariel could hear her heart beating faster. She still could not believe what she heard, that Arron have loved her all this time. “I'm not asking anything from you in return. All I want is to tell you how I feel, Ariel. I love you, I really do. And now that you're getting married to your brother, there's nothing in this world I would want, but for you to be happy with me brother...” he said.

He moved closer to her, and as he closed his eyes, he kissed her on the lips. It was a long and loving kiss. As Arron kisses him, a tear rolled from Ariel's eyes. It was tears of joy, and of sadness, of confusion. She was happy that Arron loves her too. She's sad because it seems to be too late for the two of them. And all of a sudden, with Arron's confession and his kiss, she became confused more than ever. She wanted to be with Arron, be with him forever, but she have to marry Chun. If only Arron told her what he felt for her earlier, then maybe she have not decided to marry his brother. Maybe they could still have their chance.

Ariel broke the kiss, and as she opened her eyes, she saw the guilt on Arron's face. “I'm sorry...” he whispered. “I'm sorry... I'm sorry for kissing you... I'm sorry for loving you so much... I'm sorry for making you confused... I'm sorry...” he said. Then he stood up and walked away from her. Ariel could only watch as the man she loves leaves him. “Arron...” she whispered. Tears began to cascade from her eyes as she watched him leave. “Don't leave me... I... I love you too...” she whispered. She wished that her whisper can be heard by Arron, but it's too late, for Arron is already gone.

--

A day before the wedding.

Chun sat on his bed. He looked at the phone in his hand, staring at the picture of him and Ella, which he made as his wallpaper. “Ella...” he whispered. His finger traced onto her smiling face. When was the last time he saw that smile on her face? When was the last time he have ever seen her? Since Ariel came home, Ella have been avoiding him. She's always with Arron, and since his own brother threatened him not to go near him, he couldn't even have a moment with her alone.

He is getting married the next day. He knew this should happen, but he is hesitating to marry Ariel. He knew inside him that he is just forcing himself to love Ariel. It's Ella that he truly loves, and not Ariel, but Ella gave up on them. She doubted him and his promises. And now, it's over between them. It's too late to go back and correct things.

Just then, his phone rang. As he looked on the screen, he saw Ella's name flashing. He immediately answered the call. “Ella...” he said. “Chun...” he heard her say sadly. “Ella... I... I was supposed to call you... there are some things that I want to tell you...” he said. There was silence on the other line, and he was scared that Ella have already ended the call. Then, he heard her muffled sobs. “Chun, no matter what happened, always remember that I love you. Being with you is the happiest moment of my life... and I don't regret a thing. I don't regret being with you. I... I hope you'll find your happiness with Ariel...” she said. He closed his eyes, and let a tear roll down his cheeks. “I love you, Ella...” he whispered. “I'm sorry that we can't be together...” he continued. “After this, I'll keep my distance from you, Chun. You won't hear from me anymore... I guess I've already said what I've wanted to say... it's just that I want to hear your voice one last time...” she said. Then, the call ended, and all Chun could hear the the busy signal. “Ella...” he called. He looked at his phone, and ended the call. He stared at her picture once again.

Then, he closed his eyes. He made a mistake when he started a relationship with Ella. He made a mistake when he let her go. And now, he's making another mistake by marrying Ariel. Ariel, like Ella, deserves something more than this. He just couldn't force himself to love her again. He can't be with a girl whom he doesn't love.

As he opened his eyes, he made a decision. He decided to finally make things right. And he decided not to make another mistake - the mistake that he will regret for the rest of his life.

--

Ariel looked at her wedding. Then, she walked up to it, and took the veil. She put the veil on her head, and looked at herself on the full-length mirror. She closed her eyes, and she imagined herself on her wedding day. She could see herself walking down the aisle in her long white gown. She cold imagine the cherry blossom petals floating around the place as she walked. She could hear the choir singing her song. As she looked up at the altar, she could see the man she love patiently waiting for her. She imagined herself smiling sweetly at him as she gets closer to him. And once she reached him, she would take his hand as they face God together.

She imagined her groom is Arron.

She opened her eyes, and stared herself at the mirror. Since his confession yesterday, Arron have not called her, and it was breaking her heart. She wants to tell him that she also feels the same way, but it seems that Arron won't give her that chance. She wants to tell him not to go and follow Ella, but he seems decided to go far away from her. “I can't let that happen...” she told herself as she shook her head. She imagine her future with Arron, and not with Chun, and he know she will make the biggest mistake of her life if he marries Chun. She doesn't want to get stuck with a loveless marriage, for she knows it will be hell for her. She wanted to be with Arron forever.

She's willing to take the risk just to be with Arron. Chun, his family and her family can be mad at her, but she doesn't care anymore. Arron is her happiness, and nothing can stop her now to be with her happiness. As she took off the veil on her head, she finally made a decision – no wedding will happen the next day, for she will be with Arron.

--

Chun went down the stairs, and as he headed to the door, he was surprised to see Ariel. “Ariel! We're not supposed to see each other. Did you know that if the groom sees the bride before the wedding, then there won't be any wedding that will happen?” he said. Ariel just nodded her head. “That's why I am here, Chun... I want to tell you something...” she said. Chun took a deep breath, and put his hand on his waist. “Since you're here, there's something I have to tell you...”
“Listen to me, Chun...”
“Listen to what I've got to say first, Ariel...”
“This can't wait.”
“This can't wait too...”

They both paused, and looked at each other. “Ariel...” he called. “Chun...” Ariel called. Then, they both spoke at the same time. “I can't marry you.” they said in unison. Both of them were surprised at what they said. “You can't marry me?” they both asked again in unison. Then, the two of them let out a sigh of relief.
