Me And The Boy Next Door - Round 14

Round 14 – And So, Their Plans Go




Ella sat on the counter, and watched as Chun approached her, holding a tray of food in his hand. “Bon Apetite!” he said as he placed the food beside her. Ella took the plate from the tray, and began to eat her food. Chun just watched her as she ate. Then, he saw her eyes widen as she looked at him. “Wow! This one is really delicious!” she said. “Thanks...” he said. He sat beside her, and watched her as she ate the food he have prepared especially for her. As a chef, there is this happiness that he always felt whenever he sees someone enjoying the food he have cooked, and though Ella was his enemy before, he still feels happy that she appreciated his food. Ella had her fork on her mouth, and then looked at Chun. “Why are you looking at me like that?” she mumbled. Chun just smiled, and shook his head. “Nothing. Just don't mind me.” he said.

Ella continued eating her food, and Chun just watched her until she finished her food. “Done!” she said. She placed her plate on the empty tray. Then, she looked at Chun, and found him staring at her. “Anything wrong?” she asked. Chun shook his head. “Then for Christ's sake, Chun... Stop staring at me as if you want to roast me! I am not a pig!” she shouted. Chun flinched in pain as she shouted in his head. He hit his head as if taking something out of his ear. “Thank you for shouting at me, Ella. You've shouting at me ever since, and I'm afraid I will be deaf soon because of your high-pitched voice...” he said calmly. He sighed, and then he turned to face her. “Why are you staring at me? Dont you know you look creepy when you stare at me like that?” Ella said. “Fine... I'm going to ask you this now. Sorry...” he said. He went down the counter, and then faced her. “Why did you fall in love with Sphinx?” he asked. Ella paused, and just looked at Chun.

“Why did I fell in love with him?” she asked again. Chun nodded his head. “I want to understand what you and Bianca found in her. As I've said, there's nothing really special about him.” he said. Ella looked away from him and smiled to herself. “He is, Chun. Sphinx is a special guy. When I first met him, all the girls in school were swooning over him. As for me, I didn't notice him. I told myself, nothing is special about this guy, why does everyone have a crush on him? Then, he started trying to be close to me. Although I really had no intentions to be friends with any guys because of what you did to me... I tried to push him away, but he was persistent. I don't know how he befriended me but he... he just did. Before I knew it, we were hanging out together. When your friends pick on me, he would stand up for me. He would be like a blanket, protecting me from everything. He was like a knight in shining armor, and I am his damsel in distress. When he loves someone, he always gives his all. Any girl would feel special when they are loved by Sphinx...” she said. Ella looked at Chun, and saw him nodding his head. “So, you have been in love with Sphinx since middle school?” he asked. Ella nodded her head. “I thought I am just infatuated with him, but the more I get to know him, the more that I'm falling in love with him.” she answered.

Chun folded his arms, and leaned on the counter. “I guess I will never understand why...” he said. Ella just laughed at him. “How about you? What's so special about Bianca?” she asked. Chun looked at her and just smiled. “That's a secret.” he said. Then, Ella hit his arm, and Chun could only flinch in pain. “Awww... why did you do that?” he asked. “No fair! You have to answer my question!” she said. “Bianca is pretty.”
“And?”
“She's nice.”
“And?”
“She's sweet.”

Ella sighed and rolled her eyes at him. “Chun, you're so lame. Why are you giving me those common adjectives while I took time to describe what made Sphinx so special?” Ella said. “I guess when you're in love with someone, you don't need words to explain why that person is special. You just have to feel it.” Chun said. Then, he looked up at Ella, and found himself gazing into her eyes. “Maybe because...” he thought. Then, Ella smiled at him. “I guess you're right...” she said. “You know what, it really didn't matter to me if Sphinx have another girlfriend or not... it's just that my 25th birthday is coming up, and he promised me one thing...” she said sadly. “What is it?” Chun asked. “He said before that if I turn 25, and I still don't have a boyfriend, he will marry me...” she said. Chun let out a laugh. “And you believed him?” he asked. “Sphinx never broke any of his promises. I guess I expected too much, and this time he will break his promise to be with Bianca...” she said. She lowered her head and let out a sigh. “Is there anything wrong with me? Why can't he love me?” she said.

Chun held her hand, and Ella looked at him. “Nothing is wrong with you, Ella. It's just that Sphinx is too blind to see your worth.” he said. Then, Ella let out a laugh. “You really changed, huh, Chun? Why are you saying nice things about me?” she asked. Chun just shrugged his shoulder. “I don't know. Maybe I'm getting the hang of it... maybe because I feel the same way as you are feeling right now. Bianca told me I'm a perfect guy, but I don't know why she can't choose me.” he said. “Because she isn't the perfect girl for you. Or she's blind. Either of the two.” Ella said. Chun let out another laugh at her. Somehow, being around Ella makes him feel happy. He suddenly forgot about his own heartache. He sure is enjoying her company.

“I guess we have to work hard, or else you will not get married when you turn 25.” Chun said. “I think so..” Ella said. Chun looked at her again, and smiled. “Don't worry, Ella. You'll be able to get your birthday wish. I assure you that.” he said.

Plan A: The Bad Side
(A/N: OK, what Ella and Chun will be saying here isn't really true... well half of it hahahaha)

Bianca looked bewildered as Ella kept on telling her story. “Really?” she asked in disbelief. “Yes. As in!” Ella said. Bianca looked away from her, feeling unsure. “That is Sphinx's little secret. When no one is around, he would put on those frilly dresses.” Ella said. She smiled secretly to herself upon seeing the grossed out expression on Bianca's face. “He does that all the time?” she asked. Ella nodded her head. “Not only that. Did you know that he is even more girlier that I am? He's vainer that I am. He won't go out of the house without putting on a foundation and a lip gloss.” he said. “Lip gloss?” Bianca asked. Ella nodded her head. “So that's why his lips tastes like strawberries the last time we kissed...” Bianca said.

Sphinx looked at Chun with disbelief. “She what?” he asked. Chun just smiled and nodded his head. “I didn't even know how I was able to bear it. I don't know how Matt was able to bear it. But she does.” Chun said. “The one thing I hate the most are those girls who snores so loud...” Sphinx said as he shook his head. Chun smiled secretly to himself. “That's it... be turned off now...” he thought. “Not only that. When Bianca becomes drunk, she turns into this little monster. First, she would hug everyone around her. Then, she would kiss them. Then, she would laugh out loud and then afterwards she would cry.” Chun said. “Does Bianca drinks a lot?” he asked. Chun nodded her head. “Especially when there's an occasion.” Chun answered. He looked at Sphinx and could see the unsure expression in his face. At least his sure that their first plan is working well.

“And, back in college... did you know that he kissed a guy?” Ella said. Bianca was shocked at what he said. “He kissed a guy?!” she asked. Ella nodded her head. “And he did it in front of everyone. I thought he was gay that time... maybe the reasons why he keeps on breaking up with his girlfriends is because he likes guys more than he likes girls...” Ella said. “But I thought the reason why he and Larissa broke up is because Larissa cheated on him?” Bianca asked. Ella nodded her head again. “But the reason why Larissa cheated on him is because she could feel she is gay.” Ella said.

“And she have this habit of biting her toe nails. Not only her toe nails, but other people's toe nails too.” Chun continued. Sphinx let out a disgusted look. “Yuck!” he said. Chun smiled to himself again. “That's it... be grossed out now, Sphinx.” he said. “Not only that... she likes eating her own boogers. And when she laughs so hard, you can already see her brain.” Chun said.

“So, what can you say?” Ella asked Bianca. She was expecting Bianca to back out now, but she was surprised to see her smile at her. “I like a guy who is not afraid to show his feminine side...” she said. Turns out, it's Ella who would be surprised by her reaction. “Eh?”

“So, what do you think of Bianca?” Chun asked. Sphinx just smiled at him. “I like a girl like that.” he said, winking at him. Chun could only give Sphinx a confused look. “What?!”

Plan A: Failed!

Plan B: The Chii Sauce Effect

Chun sneaked inside the kitchen to find Ella cooking their food. Ella turned around and was surprised to see him. “What are you doing here?” she asked. “Where's that lasagna that Sphinx bought?” he asked. “Why are you asking? Are you hungry already?” she asked. Chun shook his head, and then smirked at him. Then, he took a bottle of chili from his pocket, and showed it to Ella. “Put this on the lasagna.” he said. Ella gave him a confused look. “You want me to sabotage Sphinx's lasagna?” she asked. Chun nodded his head. “Put this on one part of it, and then we'll give that part to Bianca. She hates spicy foods, so if she ate it and found it too spicy, she'll get turned off by your best friend.” he explained to her. Ella turn into an evil smile. “I love your idea, Chun.” he said.

She took the chili sauce, and then sprinkled a lot of it on the corner of the pan. “Let's see if she will still love Sphinx after this.” she said after pouring the sauce on it. Then, she turned to Chun and then they exchanged high fives. The two went out of the kitchen, and after a while, Sphinx came in. “Why didn't Ella cut this one up?” he asked as he peeked on the pan of lasagna. He sighed, and shook his head. Then, he began to cut it up and serve it on the plate. Then, as he was putting it on the plate, Ella came in again. “Sphinx? What are you doing here?” she asked. “I'm preparing the lasagna. Let's serve it, all right? I'm hungry.” he said. “Leave that one to me.” she said. Sphinx nodded his head, and went out of the kitchen.

Ella looked at the plates, and then scratched her head. She forgot which part she put the chili sauce. “But I know it's at the corner of the pan...” she thought. Then, she saw a cut part of the lasagna which came from the corner. She took it and looked at it closely, and then smiled evilly to herself.

Ella went out and then served the lasagna to the three. “Enjoy!” Ella said. She sat beside Chun, and then watched Bianca as she enjoyed her food. As she took her first bite, the two anticipated her reaction. “Any moment now...” Chun thought as she watched her. “Hmmmm...” Bianca said as she chewed her food. Then, she looked at Sphinx and smiled at her. “Your lasagna tastes great! It's not that sweet and not that sour. Just right.” she said. Sphinx smiled at her, and nodded his head. “Thanks, Bianca. I'm glad that a master chef like you have appreciated my cooking.” he said. Bianca smiled at him, and then rested her head on his shoulder.

Chun and Ella could not believe what she said. “It was supposed to be there!” Ella thought as she looked at Chun. “Then, where is it? She didn't get the spicy part!” Chun thought. He just sighed and shook his head. Then, Ella took a bite from the lasagna, and after a split second, she felt the spiciness of the food. Shee turned red, literally, and steam could be seen coming out from her ears. “Spicy! Spicy!” he shouted. Everyone looked at Ella with disbelief. Then, she stood up and ran inside the kitchen to drink a lot of water.

Plan C: The Knight In Shining Armor Effect

“You got the plan, right? The actors will come and mug you guys. They will hold on to Bianca while you will act brave and save her.” Ella said over the phone. Chun let out a sigh. “Yeah, yeah... I got that. We've gone through these for days already.” he said. “I'm just reminding you that, Chun. It's your time to shine, and I don't want you to mess up!” Ella said. “Look? Who was the one who messed up the last time?!” Chun said. He heard Ella sigh on the other line. “Let's not bring that up, all right? I'll give the cue to the actors.” Ella said before ending the call.

Chun put his phone back on his pocket, just in time for Bianca have come out of the dress shop. “I'm ready to go, Chunnie.” she said. Chun looekd at her, and smiled. “OK, princess.” he said. As he opened the door to his car, his phone rang again. He took it from his pocket, and saw Ella's name flashing on the screen. “Yes?” he said as he answered his call. “Chun! We've got some problems! They -”

Before Ella could continue what he was saying, he saw two muscular and suspicious-looking guys coming up to them. “Can't talk now, Ellie... we seem to be in trouble. Bye.” he said. He took the phone back from his pocket, then turned to Bianca. “Let's go.” he said. Bianca nodded his head. As Bianca was about to get inside the car, one of the men shouted at them. “Hey, you! Come here!” he shouted at them. Chun and Bianca gave each other a confused look. Chun could see that Bianca it already scared. “It's OK... let me take care of this.” he said to her. Bianca just nodded his head.

Chun walked up to them, and faced them. “What do you want, sirs?” he asked. “We want your hot date right there to play with us.” One of them said. He looked at Bianca, then as he faced them again, he smirked. He let out a brave front. “I'm sorry, but he is my date, and no, you can't play a game with her.” he said. “We want to, you hear that? You want to be dead?” the other guy said. He walked up to Chun and crunched on his own fingers. But that didn't make Chun scared, for he knew that these guys are just actors. “Well, I can't let you touch her. Over my dead body.” he said. The two men looked at each other, and then they laughed evilly as they looked back at Chun. “You really want to die early, huh? Well, if that's what you want...” the man said. He glared at the two and clenched his fist. As he was about to punch the two, his phone rang again. He took his phone, saw Ella's name again flashing on the screen.

“What?! Can't you see I'm taking care of some trouble here?!” Chun shouted. “You stupid chicken face! You are really in big trouble! Don't tell me that there are two guys there trying to take Bianca from you?!” Ella shouted. Chun was confused at what she was saying. “Yes...” Chun said. “Listen to me carefully Wu Chun... that guys are not the actors I hired! They backed out at the last minute because their director called on them! Whoever it is that's in front of you... I think that's the real bad guys!” Ella said. Chun felt all of his energy was drained at what she said. He became pale as he turned to the two men standing in front of him. He could see them readying themselves to beat up Chun. “E-ella...” he stuttered. “What?! Get out of there, Chun! Run!” Ella shouted. “I want to tell you something but I am too scared to even remember what it is...” he said. Then after that, one of the men punched Chun on the face hard, that he fell on the ground, knocking him unconsciously.

“Chun! Chicken Face! Where are you? Answer me!”

Plan C: Failed

--

“Chun... Chun... wake up... Chun....”

Chun slowly opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was Ella's worried face. “Ellie?” he called. Ella nodded her head. “Yeah, it's me...” she said. Chun shook his head to wake himself up, then he sat on the hospital bed. “What happened? Where am I?” he asked. Ella sat on his bed. “You're at the hospital. Those bad guys punched you in the face, remember?” Ella said. Chun recalled what happened earlier, and he does remember being punched in the face. “Yeah... I thought those were the actors we hired... turned out they were the real bad guys...” he said as he scratched his head.

“Where's Bianca? What happened to those guys? Why are you here?” Chun asked. “As soon as you said that you are in trouble, I immediately went to where you are. I saw you being knocked out by those guys, so... I beat the hell out of them.” Ella said. Chun looked at her with disbelief. He couldn't believe that this small girl could take those two big, bad guys. “You did?!” he asked. Ella nodded her head. “Good thing Bianca was a quick thinker, and called the police as soon as you faced those guys.” Ella said. “Where is Bianca?” Chun said. He looked around the room, hoping to see a sign of her. “She's at the police station, giving out her statement. Sphinx is with her, don't worry.” Ella said.

She saw Chun's face turn into a sad one. And she felt guilty for it. Their plan failed again this time, and it only made Sphinx and Bianca much closer. Ella held his hand, and looked into his eyes. “I'm sorry...” she said sadly. Chun gave her a confused look. “Why are you saying sorry, Ella?” he asked. “Because it seems that it's always my fault that our plans didn't work out...” she said. Chun simply smiled at her, then he squeezed her hand. “Don't worry about it, Ella. It's not your fault. Maybe we need to make a better plan for those two.” he said. “I'm sorry that because of me, you have to get hurt...” she said. Chun just shook his head. “It doesn't matter. At least I was able to protect Bianca from those guys. Thank you for warning me, and thank you for taking revenge on those guys.” Chun said.

Ella smiled at him. “Does it still hurts?” she asked. Chun gave her another confused look. “What?” he asked. “Your eye...” she said. She reached for her face and touched his black eye. Chun flinched in pain as her finger made contact with his bruise. “Ouch! Yes it still hurts.” Chun said. Ella just laughed at him. “I can so imagine how you looked like a while ago!” she said. Chun folded his arms, and glared at her. “Don't make fun of now, Ella Chen.” he warned her. But Ella couldn't help but laugh at him. Chun looked like a panda because of his black eye, and this made Ella laugh more. “You should see yourself in the mirror. You looked like a panda.” she said. “At least I am a cute panda!” Chun said proudly. Ella could only laugh, and then she pinched Chun's nose. “Ouch! Ella, you have no right to pinch my nose!” Chun said. He reached for her and tried to pinch her nose in revenge, but Ella tried to get away from him. “No fair!” Chun said. “I have the right to pinch your nose, Panda Chun!” she shouted.

As Sphinx got inside the hospital room, he saw the two happily laughing and teasing each other. He just stood frozen in his place as he watched the two together. He felt a flinch in his heart as he watched Chun and Ella together. He never thought that Ella would enjoy another guy's company, especially the company of her own enemy. “What is this?” he thought to himself. “Am In getting jealous of Chun?”
